Fertilization can occur anywhere sperm meets egg.
But there is a narrow window of time while the egg travels from the ovary to the toilet bowl where it can be fertilized and implanted in the uterus for a successful pregnancy.
It's much higher up than the vagina in the uterus. Just at the end of the fallopian tubes.
Furthermore, for successful implantation there has to be a correct mix of hormones.
A very fertile female might not be affected. But so many women are borderline with fertility. Those on the edge would be the most likely to have their affected by a traumatic experience.
