I have this big DWC plant taking up half my grow area. She was grown from bag seed, she is surely sativa dominant because of her narrow leaves and she quadrupled in height after switching to 12-12 under a 600W air cooled hood 4 and a half weeks ago(Major stretch).

I want to know if it is normal that buds are so tiny and their pistils all brown. Will new pistils start growing, this baby is no where near harvest. The only leaf problem I see is a bit of nutrient burn, but that's it. Roots are healthy leaves are nice and green...what could have stalled the bud development?

Last time I had changed water, I had mixed transition nutrient ratios that I had re-adjusted since because I add nutrient water every other day> I was adding mid bloom nutrient ratios to a 5 gallon previously mixed with transition nutrient ratios ...could that be the cause, I don't see anything else. I need your opinions, why are the pistils on the two top colas all brown?

I dont know if this is what is causing your problem, but you definately have nitrogen toxicity (to much).

I have personaly never seen flowers do that before, and the nitrogen could very well be causing it.

How long has it been since there has been any new pistil/calyx growth?

Nitrogen toxicity will for sure slow down maturing rate and growth rates, but also the pistils browning super early may be from low light conditions, happens to my pre-98 bubba kush on any part of the plant that is not in direct light..and back when I rocked 600's it would happen to many of the plant parts that werent recieving adequate lighting on the outside of the light.

I know exactly what your problem is and I also know you are in for the long haul if you decide to continue flowering her.
I also had a sativa haze who more than tripiled in height after the switching and was easily overtaking the light and taking up all of the space in the tent.
4 weeks later, all other girls (even though heavily shaded from the haze) had taken off flowering nicely while the piece of crap haze was only just beginning to show hairs then immediately die and try to put out more then die and so on.
Turned out she was too close to the light, yeah she could handle the heat and showed no signs of stress but it was definitely the light.
Wanna know how I know?
Because before all of that bullshit, I cloned her. During the bullshit, killed all of them and kept one in curiousity to exactly what went wrong.
So I threw the clone in for another run which would be a 5wk veg then 12/12. Since I now had prior knowledge that this bitch would stretch crazily, I went in prepared and let her grow big for 2.5wks then LST'd and topped, let her recover for a week, then LST'd and topped again then put her in flower on the 5th week.
Her stretch this time was less than double (She went in at 2.5foot wide and 2foot tall) and after 3wks flower was 2.5ft tall, 2.7ft wide and heavily flowering, she has so many heads each with fat colas just waiting to explode further.
Now back to the problematic mother, she was supposed to be a 9week strain that ended up taking 16weeks and it was still not ready, I was just pissed off and chopped her. Her clone on the other hand looks right on schedule to finish for 9 even though I go 10 regardless.
As your's is, recovery is almost impossible and would be time consuming but you can go for it, if I was you, I'd clone her, kill her, wait for her clones to re-veg and go in prepared this time.

Possible that it is too much light but she is at least 14" away from the 600W HPS bulb. What ever it is, i'm giving it until mid June and she's coming down, I have 6 BC bluberry seedlings in the veg room right now, they are next and i'm scrapping the whole bagseed shit. I had hermies last grow and I'm afraid of having to go through that again. So far so good for hermies.

You might have had too many plants in your grow area? The affected buds on mine are directly under the light.
