It's only being done in a s select number of stores. Maybe the number crunchers at subway looked into the figures and decided that it would make more money by catering to a specific group, which given the way the uk is, might be the majority of the local community. This is not a nationwide thing, chances are it is being done not because of muslim backlash, but for sound financial reasons. The same reason a kosher deli might open, because in that specific area, it proves profitable to cater to a kosher diet instead of a regular one.idk why subway would attempt such a thing though, why not let halah followers open up their own stores, much in the way that jewish people do with kosher delis?
Remember, this is a daily mail article, you can't read it and take it at face value, the daily mail could take a story on red squirrels and turn it into a political sensationalist piece. The daily mail is not known for being accurate with facts, that would make it harder to create such controversy.
Personally, i couldn't care less. My opinion is that this was not done because of religious uproar, but because it made financial sense, but that wouldn't have made as good a piece of morning reading.
In the UK there are huge muslim communities, it's not a case of a few here, a few there, they all flock together, which in turn often pushes non-muslims out of the neighbourhoods for a variety of reasons. that should be the concern for average UK joe public.
