Def! Blows many trees out of the water. even with just the foliage its beautifulman, that tree is beautiful, my mom just calls them snow balls..
Ooooooh!! another, white! those are so beautiful! thanks for sharing
You're so right! you really know your hydrangeas I appreciate the wisdom, my mother was always my biggest influence growing up. She had two (vegetable) gardens and flowers everywhere, a pond... going at the same time and I didn't appreciate it enough when I was younger. Now I want to be just like her but sadly she has dementia so my time to learn more from her is growing shorter and shorter. I got my pruning sheers this evening, I am pretty sure the oldest one is okay. I'll do some scraping at the base of the next oldest tomorrow to see if there's any viable wood left. The everbloom one is a goner. It's H. paniculata grandiflora or PG Hydrangea for short. Those panicles will turn reddish as they mature and the fall leaf color isn't too shabby either. It's one of the most stately woody plants available in my considered opinion.
LOLwhat he said lol
why thanks! how'd you know?and happy prelated birthday! lol
I can totally understand why I've got to get me at least one or two of them. My new front yard is pretty good size and plain, needs some spicing up. Wonder how much they run? so absolutely gorgeousman, that tree is beautiful, my mom just calls them snow balls..
I see the dark red stems..those are some beautiful bloomsThere's a couple more Hydranges I like very much. I have to do a bit of finding to remember the name on one. It has really cool dark red stems. When I am on my laptop I may be able to post a pic. But there's one I love and I know you will too. It's H. arborescens 'Annabelle' with huge white blooms really larger than any blooms I've ever seen. It will stop you in your tracks.
Another had very cool dark dark red stems. I found a pic. Don't know if I can do this on my iPad let's see....

That is STUNNING!! oh and they have the Peegee tree!Nope. I'll get to it later. I found a site that has 'Annabelle' for sale. The plant can't be that big though so you'll have to wait five years for anything worth having but here's a link anyway...

oh im just a stalker.......lol your profile of course!why thanks! how'd you know?
omg bro...those are fucking beautiful!!! I love the Vanilla Strawberry..divine..A couple pix off the web
H.'Annabelle'
H. 'Annabelle'
H. macrophylla 'Cardinal'fall color below
H. paniculata grandiflora 'Vanilla Strawberry'
I could see a white garden with 'Annabelle' as its centerpiece. Its so elegant. About the only thing I say that's bad about it is those huge blossoms get very heavy when wet and tend to flop over. But with some creative staking and tying it could be manageable. Wish I had the space.
