Switching over to leds

So I have a 3000 w hid grow going over at my friends house and huge electric problems have been happening. Blown breakers, all lights shutting down, ect. He was supposed to get his chill electrician by but it never happened and I have plants that need to go in flower immediately. So I'm going to put them into flower at my place, the only thing is- my utilities are included and it never really jumps dramatically except for in the summer when we have ac's blasting. Its not a big deal f it goes over, we have to pay the extra. So here the deal, I'm going to buy 2 a51 xgs-190, I have one 3x3 tent that I use for drying another 4x4 tent that I usually use for veg, clones and moms. So which of these 2 tents should I use to flower with the two a51's? I have 6 ss ak plants that are a little over a ft high.

A 51 is a good choice, but...
For $999 look into the BML Horticulture SPYDR 600. It will fill a 3 x 3, or Apache Tech which is more expensive but excellent results

I got 2 BML light bars last Saturday and have a 600 on order.

Your biggest issue might be availability

I'd use the 3x3 to flower your plants if you are going with 2 a51's. Especially since you already use the 4x4 to veg. If that's working out for you just keep it the same. For flowering in a 3x3, I like between 400-600w led and in a 4x4 I would want 600w or more to get the flowering results I want.

Thanks guys.. I was leaning towards the 3x3 tent for bloom. This whole situation is bummer, the fact I have to take down the big tent...But I'm taking the good with the bad, this way I'm going to learn more about growing with leds and its a way to keep my grow going and not totally shut it down. I'm actually going to pick up some of my gear today at my boys house and put into storage until I find the right place to start up big again.

Apache tech was my second choice. I was checking out the at600. I might just go for the a51's for now and see how I like it and what kind of results I get from leds. Then in the fall, when my friend and I rent a place for a bigger scale grow perhaps we will invest in some at600. I'm getting excited to see what kind of results I'll get with 2 a51-190s in a 3x3 with some co2 bags. Super stoked!

you got that backwards. apache is cheaper.. An at200 is $750 and covers a 3x3. A51 is $550 - $575 and covers a 3x3

Hey, Pet, according to Area 51 website:

The XGS190:
Coverage: For vegging plants, on 1/2 power (100w), there is 2'x2.5' of coverage. On full power there is a square meter of coverage (39"x39"). For flowering plants, on full power there is 2.5'x2.5' coverage. We recommend 18"-24" above vegging plants (100w mode), and 18"-22" for flowering plants (195w mode).

The RW-150:
Recommended flowering footprint: Minimum: 24"x24" Maximum: 36"x36" Optimal: 24"x30" Recommended veg footprint: Up to 36"x36" in 100w veg mode.

The RW-75:
Coverage: Minimum 18" x 18" ; Maximum 24" x 24" ; Recommended 20" x 20" Recommended operating heights: 16" in veg mode for vegging plants. 12"-16" in flowering mode for flowering plants.

Each of these are phrased differently. It would be great if A-51 could go back and standardize the comments a little bit.

3X3 coverage would definitely be two RW-75's. One XGS isn't gonna properly illuminate 3X3, and according to A-51 it's borderline for the RW-150. IMO you're correct. I'd want two in a 3X3.

Thanks Mello, that's what I thought, but some here are quick to jump on me without having done any research into BML. I like the idea of spreading 3w diodes over 3 x 3 to achieve a more homogenous umoles^m* at the perimeter, as opposed to more of a spot light. Same money better coverage

I'm at day 34 with my XGS and found the good coverage to be 2.5'x3',so after a couple weeks in my 3'x3' tent I noticed the coverage and added some light to the edges.

Our space is almost exactly 2.5 ft by 3 ft. Reflective material on all 4 sides. With one XGS190 I thought it seemed awful dark in the corners once the two girls filled out. I suspended four DIY CXA3070 COB's (sparked by the relatively low-power eBay 700mA drivers that Supra mentioned in his DIY threads) so that they were positioned several inches outside the XGS frame and nearer to the corners.

To me, that seemed to alleviate the "dark corners" look. I realize that's very subjective.

It'll take me a while to get there, but one of the cool things about DIY augmentation is a person could use 5000K COB's during veg, then switch to 3000K. All it takes is money
