Day 17 since 12/12 switch. Isay first time but I've had two males prior to this. :( . But this will be first harvest :) even though its 4-5 wks away Will throw out there that I'm in need of"sampling" in about a week. Could anyone give me the best advice about going about this? Please don't just say don't do it. I know it's frowned upon and will not need to do so after this run. lol.

DON'T DO IT. There's nothing on the plant to smoke anyway, lol. I won't just say it, I'll tell you why.

1. Its nowhere NEAR ready. There's barely anything on that plant. That's still pre-flower. There's almost no THC and the THC on it is so young, it won't get you medicated. That's not bud yet.

2. Even after you harvest, you have to dry and cure for at least 2 weeks before it's good for sampling...and even that's rushing it. Cures should go for much longer...2 months even.

3. Whereever you cut from will not grow back. You could also mess up the rest of the flower for the plant.

You don't have to listen but, if you cut that now... I PROMISE you, you will not get anything from it. If you chopped all those plants, after drying, you might have half a gram of uselessness. You can't pick it off and smoke it. So you still have to wait. Don't cut it, dude.

and it begins.. lol you're correct and there's no arguing that. I will harvest the one in the smaller pot in about 3 wks for two reasons, I want the two different buzzes and I feel the extra lighting for the plant in the 3 gallon bucket would really help for its final weeks. I've just tied both down due to them stretching more than there own size at switch, they were running into lights. Ive also cloned both and both have rooted and started to veg as of yesterday so I will be more adapt to my space next run. Early harvest on one doesn't seem out of the question considering all the factors.

For what? What's the point of cutting it? You're not going to get anything to smoke. There will be no buzz from anything you cut off that plant. Promise. Considering everything, it's pointless.

Listen to him man, I cut off one of my plants and now realize i would have been a lot better off being patient. I still had three I didn't pluck any premature buds off of, so I know first hand how much good bud i wasted by smoking a 1/8th that was week and short lived buzz compared to letting that 1/8 stay on the plant longer and develop into 1/4 of good bud. DONT PLUCK OFF YOUR PLANT. If u can help it. YOu will get so much more if you allow it to fully mature.

An early harvest is taking bud at 8 weeks when it's a 10 week strain. Or taking it when you look at the trichomes under a microscope and when there's 15-20% amber trichs, you give it a try. That's not an early harvest, that's a waste of time and energy.

No ones gonna say "yeah man, just do it" so if your looking for affirmation of your plan its just not gonna happen. Just wait, harvest when theyre ready and youll be alot happier you waited. "Good things come to those who wait"

Also just a quick tip or two from the pics. Top earlier and clean some of those first sets of branches off before flower so you can harness the energy to your top nodes and the bud production. Only trying to help, dude. Don't want you to waste what work you've been putting in. Be patient (I know how hard it is to wait for that first harvest).

Without a doubt 3 week minimum before any harvest, and will go 6-7 on what I call the more superior girl(based on trichomes of course) but with this puff 2 1/2 wks in I felt positive about a small sample in a week. Too bad for me I guess. Thanks for the input everyone. I'll post pics of colas when they wake up.

Hey... it ain't the noob thread for nothing. Hahaha, Will of course wait for at very least cloudy trichs, but I'm sure anyone on here can remember kicking themselves for having to buy when. ITS RIGHT THERE. Thought maybe 3 1/2 may suffice for some quick med. Will wait as advised tho. Again thanks y'all

I had a male and a severe herm on very first run so I tried not to touch these until absolutely necessary. Did a very light amount off pruning to spots I saw wouldn't be squat but nothing serious, or even close to a real pruning. Didn't want to mess around too much after the herm

Okay man, you chop it up at 3 1/2 but... there will be no medication. You do NOT have the same thing you buy, RIGHT THERE. You're gonna smoke chlorophyll and get a headache....that's it. I am glad to buy when I know I'll just ruin my hard work for nothing. I have never chopped earlier than a week or two before harvest.

Lol, I top all my plants around 2 weeks and the third node...they're just determining sex. The longer you wait to train it, the MORE chance you have to hermie and you don't want to be chopping anything during flower...Topping has never hermied any of my plants. Usually heat does it or it's genetic.

I did top one and LST both during
veg, but needed to do again when space ran short. Wouldn't attempt you train during flower otherwise. And also believe heat played a factor with first herm. learning as we g(r)o. Thanks again. And I will wait it out and allow the trichs to determine the harvest.

Okay, okay. Wait it is..
You'll thank us later. Of course, you'll still probably do it and then you'll know why we said not to, haha. Live and learn

There's a lot of good info on this site. I highly recommend doing some reading. Experience and learning from other peoples mistakes keep us from making them, haha.

Like Any newcomeR I've read anything I can get my hands on mostly being on this site, and feel pretty confident once I got set up and especially when I found I had 2 ladies..

i will wait .....that is atleast until the trichomes are cloudy for my first plant. Really would like the two different buzzes i hear so much about. Will post more pics in the morning. Trust me on the waiting though. Not a huge deal, just excited of course.

I would wait till you had some amber (5-10% AT LEAST). That's still the speedy buzz but okay smoke. Anything earlier is a waste. I go way further before I harvest like, 30% amber. I find by the time I'm done curing, it's just right. If I have a sativa strain that's speedy, I may go further. Even all cloudy as a general rule, is too early.

If u want to sample ima tell u how to do it. First wait till there's enough triches. U can't get stoned off of leaves. Cut off the part you want to sample and cut it up with scissors and put it in the freezer over night. Next put the cut up pieces into a paper bag and let em dry for about two days it should be pretty dry but doesn't have to be as dry as paper. A little moisture is ok. You'll need a small silk screen u can get in a art supply store. Take the dry trimmings and sift them over the screen for as long as it takes to extract the triches. U can be a little rough but don't go rubbing the stuff against the screen as if it were a cheese grater. You should get enough gold triches fallen off to pack a bowl with and just light it up. It will be strong as shit. So what u have then is KIEF.
It doesn't have to cure just be dried. It's a short cut to sampling ur weed w/o the waiting.
