This is a culture war within America.
Problem is that one side is heavily funded by corporate america. They are protecting their profits and wrapping it up in apple pie. I call bs. These older guys like Bill O are actors. They're not journalists. They're hired guns/talking heads selling Murdoch's editorial line. Look up the Murdoch scandal in the UK via Google. You consume American Media. I consume English language media. Big difference in perspectives.
