Seedling 4 days old bent over! Help

Ok I have a huge problem. My g-13 x blueberry head band took a nose dive this afternoon. I checked them this morning and all were fine. It looks like the stem was just to thin to hold the big head up but I could be wrong. My cotton candy is taller and still reaching with no defects. I propped it up in hope it will get stronger and survive but I think it might wilt. What do you think. Is there anything further I can do? I really would be upset if it didn't make it.image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

Looks like damping off to me fuck that sucks! As far as I knew coco coir kept the root zone oxygenated and over watering would not be a problem they have not been watered since they were put in the coco coir. I think it got to close to the light . I moved them down before I took the pic. Is this genetics or my boo boo?

Would help to know what lights you're using but I'd say your babies weren't getting enough light, that's why they are tall and lanky, also you should have a small fan "jiggling" the plant to help strengthen the stem, you may be able to save the seedling but prop it up strait.

The plants were less then 1/2 inch from the floros. So it's not stretch. It looks like someone pinched it in the middle of the stem. I would agree it was from stretching but they were right on top of it. I think sometime between this morning and afternoon it hit the light and got to hot. I will prop it better and hope it does better. I don't have a fan ATM but will have a little one

Nope it's deff damping off I looked closer and where it bends is dark and necrotic not gonna survive I don't think. I pulled the coir up around it for stability keeping my fingers crossed but don't expect much.

it doesn't look like d.o. to me. i've seen it a couple times, and it usually happens down low, where the medium and plant meet. could be wrong though, hard to see your pic up close. when your seedlings bend/crease like that, a straw works good. cut a piece and slit the side all the way up. open up the piece of straw and put it around the stem, it holds it straight up nicely. push the straw down into the medium a bit for support.

I've had it happen to my clones as well had to switch back to peat pellets. I didn't think it would make a difference with the seeds but I see it does. I never had this problem with seedlings before.

Definitely damping off. I lost a lot of seedlings starting in coco coir due to damping off. Now I use root riots or a seedling mix then into coco.
I had great success with jiffy seed starter. I was gonna get roots organic 707 and mix with coco coir and perlite but ended up with no funds and had to go with coco.

No it's not my first time. I love coco coir it just has a few glitches. I should have know better then to use it for the babies but like I said it all I have ATM.

It's a common problem with coco actually. Do some research guaranteed you will see a lot of people losing seedling due to damping off in coco. Yes coco is the shiznit but you can lose seedlings starting them straight in it
wow, that's news to me!!! i switched to coco from soil, double digit years ago. never had d.o. once, humm. i guess it could be fairly easy to do. early on, i treat coco like soil, and don't feed like i do when the plants are mature. prob. feed once a week tops, for new seedlings. kind of a waste until the roots get established, eh?

I usually flush my brick first a couple of time and then let it air dry for a week, but I didn't have time to do the whole brick and I flushed the coir in the party cups and put them in wet. I'm a dummy I know. We all learn from mistakes. I really really wanted to try this it just sounds so yummy. Oh well will just have to get a few more. I only got one I should have got two of them.

dang, that's what i use for seedlings. when it's fresh out of the bag, do you flush it? i think rinsing it is a real good idea. even when the bag says, "pre-rinsed," lol, i rinse...

How does it look now? Didnt look like damping off to me just like it got pinched. Usually damping off happens where the seedling and medium meet so it seemed strange.

I germ straight in solos with coco saturate with phd water and usually do not even have to water again until after sprout.
