Did you know - Beer - contains 17 different microorganisms - that are benefical to soil. Used in the 3rd week of veggie growing - one room temperature beer - will improve nitrogen uptake - & feed the flora (good microorganisms) present. If your soil is sterile - add worm castings first, then the beer. Cheap & Effective...

Just straight beer. Just open one, let it sit until it is room temperature, and pour in. Just like your watering your plant(s). 6 ounces per plant minimum; but they will not complain if you give them the full beer.

This is one of the strange but true fun facts... every grower should know.

I just use left overs from parties. There are always a few, half empty beers left at the end of the night. See, Recycling - it's good for the environment.

Can you source any scientific data to back up your claim? What 17 microorganisms? I could see maybe the carbonation being beneficial by oxygenating the water... I wouldn't pour a beer right onto the soil, though, I'd feel better mixing it in the reservior like everything else I feed my plants.

I wouldn't expect to try this with Steel Reserve or Budweiser... more like a local organic microbrew if at all.

Dont give it beer that has been pasteurized. EG Coors, Bud. All the big brands pasteurize their beer. That kills all the beneficial bacteria. So you are just choking your plants.

Ok..Listen up nay sayers.. What is beer made of ? Barely, Hops, Malt, Yeast & good clean water. Both Barely & Hops, are good sources of trace minerals. The Alcohol in Beer will act as a mild disinfectant, killing more bad than good microorganisms. The Yeast provides good bacteria. The finished product: Beer - It's a source of carbohydrates (simple ones - already broken down by the yeast - this is called Bioconversion.) It is true that pasturization kills bacteria, but not all. Just like with composting yard waste. It seems an interesting fact - that good bacteria (present in hops, barley & yeast) are able to with stand high temperatures - just like good micro-beasties in the compost pile. Those who survive, reproduce. They have a source of food, oxygen & good clean water (all located in that can or bottle). I am trying to find the link I read - giving the names of the 17 microoranisms (good bacteria) present in beer. Don't ask me to spell them, I am not a scientist. I will update, when located.

I've been looking at all the beers my husband doesn't finish and have been wondering if it might be good to try, maybe diluted with water. High in B vitamins as well, isn't it?

just read those beer uses ,very interesting ,even use on your hair ,pity i am bald ,but i will give it a go ,only trouble is i normally drink it all,but better see what they put in emu bitter first,but we do have those special beers so will have to look at the ingrediants ,on the bottle

Tommorow I will sifon all my nute water out of my res and fill it with bush beer. I could problably disconnect all my air hoses too cause all that carbanation in the beer.
Thanks you guys now I can finally grow some decent bud, but I must thank the beer too. To late already drank all the beer. Oh well I guess water will do..

Seamaiden.. It is full of good stuff (including some B vitamins - thanks to the yeast), now I wouldn't drain the res. and use straight beer. But I have been using left over party favors for years.

Sometimes, I pour just a few ounces into a pot. Other times I pour all of it into a clean 5 gallon bucket, throw in some worm castings, rabbit poop or bat guano & fire up the air pump. Bubble, Bubble, Bubble - I don't toll & it's no trouble.

Last week, I mixed up some, Bubweiser, Coors & a few Red Dogs's - about a gallon total - threw in a cup of worm casting & away I bubbled. Watered it in on two Skunks - pics link below my signature. They were 5 feet tall & 2 1/2 feet wide - Now their 4 feet wide. Sorry for the shitty pictures, I'm new to digital cameras & their software. My daugher is trying to teach this old dog a new trick.

Attention young growers & newbies - before high dollar hydro store goodies - we grew killer weed. Hell, we still do. Their is no replacement for experience. Beer is a Soil Amendment - I know, since GH, Foxfarm or Botanicare doesn't bottle it & charge you 20 bucks a pint for it - it's hard to believe - But Believe It.

Sorry, to ramble their Seamaiden... I dig your Avatar & like your questions / post. At some point, maybe Generaton X will get back to basics. Light, Water, (min) fertilizers (organic), CO2 provided by mothernature & TLC....
