So that being said could a 600 watt in a 27 cubic foot room be effectively cooled if I just cut a 6" hole for a 6" 240cfm booster fan in the top back corner of the box for exhaust, and put an 8" hole in the bottom corner as a passive intake? I keep my bedroom relatively cold with a window ac unit, even on a hot day with the ac on it's around °60 ferinhiet
Possibly. As you can see people are saying go for an inline. But if you cant afford it, at least try to keep the lights separated from the plants with a translucent or transparent screen. That will keep a lot of the heat out, and if you can attach the booster to the enclosed light; It could suck the air up from the plants thru the light to cool the light and exhaust the hot air while keeping it away from the plants. I agree with the hole for the inlet but does it shut when the fan is off? Or does the fan run full time?

I wish I had the money for inline, but i honestly think that I could get away with just the booster fan for now because I broke down and got the 400 watt apollo kit so I had the cash to get fox farm trio pack and the booster fan.and the intake hole will be always open and probably going to run the fan on a lower speed setting.

So did you root your broke top  just seen this thread pop up & thought I would ask.. ;)
I should have,I had rooting powder and didn't even think about it,it was a traumatic experience for me as well as the plant :( haha i taped it back together to see if I could get the plants cell walls to heal back where it was but someone mentioned that for its age it looked extremely stunted so I decided to pull the plug untill I could upgrade from cfls to hids and get appropriate nutes

Ive done it b4 in the past. It'll be ok. She should bounce back & might end up growing out you 2 cola's where the top broke off :) So win win right.. ;)

The plant was in day 23 or 24 of 12/12 when it snapped,I gave it 31 days of 24/7 light schedule with 31watt florescent and inadequate nutes so alot of old growth was out the window from deficiencys it was topped 6 days before cycle change and really wasn't any taller than 8"

Damn. That wouldve made for a nice clone 2 :( oh well, maybe next time. 8" is prime cut length. Although I have took them allot smaller.

Word. You gotta do what you gotta do. I'm sure the 400w won't disappoint!
Do you have a hygrometer/thermometer in there? I ask only because keeping the fan low is a good idea, but you'll probably want to turn it up when the light turns on somehow.

No I don't a thermometer yet but I have 8 or 9 dollars left on my card and found a little thermometer/humidity display for about $5 on ebay so im probably about to order that for temporary uses, and if I feel like it gets a little warm in there I'll open the cabinet doors because my bedroom window ac runs full blast day to night.and if i just put the booster fan on a speed control I could turn it up for lights on and turn it down a little for lights off

Yea man! I was going to say, I picked mine up on ebay too for like $3.50. I bet you are looking at the same thing, it keeps track of high and low on both temp and humidity. Love these things! As for the fan up and down, I wasnt sure if you wanted to keep adjusting it or if you wanted an automated system. But yea man, I bet that booster n stuff will work awesome, especially if you can keep track of how hot it might get with lights. You'll fine tune it to perfectionnnn

Haha we probably were looking at the same one,on a side note.one of my packages came in today :) now i shouldn't have to worry about buying bloom nutes for awhile

Edit:Im not worried about having to manually play with the fan speed,it'll give me an excuse to open up the grow room doors and admire the plants haha

Finally got my 400 watt, and all I can say is that im impressed!! Right now I have a clone off of a two month old indica dominate hybrid that a friend has.im trying to get it to take roots and a few seeds germinating, ready to get it going!i have my doubts the clone will root but im trying to remain optimistic,it went from completely wilted to perking up within hours this morning, for a humidity dome I just put a one liter bottle with the top cut off over the cup
