I told you what was wrong. The food you're using is not complete for such a medium. a medium which is void of all nutrients. You can not expect any plant to perform based on your culture.

Also, you're focusing on the wrong "problem".

Good luck

So your thinking the nutes im using are not "complete"?? this might be right but then why is is the same nutes have been running fine for the past 4 years with no issues? Also the 1 plant with organic soil that is also showing the same symptoms and has not been fed these nutes. Just a nice organic mix with EWC tea at dinner time??

This is what is so confusing to me

my nutes list the following.

30% Nitrogen Total (N)
  • 3.3% Nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N)
  • 2.1% Ammoniacal nitrogen (NH4-N)
  • 24.6% Urea nitrogen (Ur-N)
10% Phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5)
  • 10.0% Water soluble
10% Potassium oxide (K2O)
  • 10.0% Water soluble
0.12% Iron (Fe)
  • 0.12% Water soluble
  • 0.12% Chelated by DTPA
0.06% Manganese (Mn)
  • 0.06% Water soluble
  • 0.06% Chelated by EDTA
0.02% Boron (B)
  • 0.02% Water soluble
0.015% Copper (Cu)
  • 0.015% Water soluble
  • 0.015% Chelated by EDTA
0.010% Molybdenum (Mo)
  • 0.010% Water soluble
0.015% Zinc (Zn)
  • 0.015% Water soluble
  • 0.015% Chelated by EDTA
That's exactly the info I was looking for, did not find it after a Google search. Good food for a typical organically enriched potting soil. Not enough for a totally inert soil-less medium like you're using. You'll have the best results with a complete food like Dyna-Gro, which has ALL 16 essential elements.

Not sure why the 1/3 rate? Seems to me if you're not getting any nutrition from the medium that you'd want to provide more nutrition in the form of a plant food. What are you afraid of? You have to combine the nutritional value of what's being provided in your soil with what you're applying and go from there. Sum of the parts thingie....

Curious, what is the organic soil you're using and if you know, what nutritional value or charge does it have?

As an aside, it's not a zinc issue. Your food has zinc and like the pH drills, someone's guessing, not knowing.

That's a good food.

Any way you can get Dyna-Gro? If you're able to make the call from China, ask for Raphael Diez at 800-396-2476 or write him at [email protected]. Please do not tell him your source. Buy either the Foliage Pro or Grow. This might work - http://www.amazon.com/Dyna-Gro-7-9-5-1-Quart-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B0054YQ1WI

Miracle Gro is fine but you're still left with insufficient nutrients regarding your inert medium.

Good luck

The above link is what i use for veg. Could you please tell me is this complete or its missing something. I assumed it was complete. In the past i had always added soil into my pot mixes. problems is neighbours were thinking it was werid with all the large bags of dirt etc so i cut it out this time

It is not a good match.

I told you twice it was missing something and gave my recommendation. What more do you need, even gave you resources to call.

Here's the biggest problem and the main cause of the stunting, the foods are high in urea and are not a good match for your soil-less mix.

30% Nitrogen Total (N)
  • 3.3% Nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N)
  • 2.1% Ammoniacal nitrogen (NH4-N)
  • 24.6% Urea nitrogen (Ur-N)
Urea must first be broken down into ammonical N and then finally nitrate N before it can be used by the plant. You don't have microbes available in your mix that can do that, so any N they're benefiting from is mainly from the nitrate form (NO3) which isn't nearly enough as reflected in the stunted growth. One reason why I want you to use the Dyna-Gro, but you aren't listening or paying heed. The main form of N in Dyna-Gro products is in the nitrate form. Visit their products info.

You can always take that soil-less mix and add some composted livestock manure or compost to it and then your Peters 30-10-10 will be fine as it will have the microbes necessary to process all forms (ammonical an urea) of N.

Contacted them today. They said it will take 15-20 days to arrive. But customs here like to take there time so will be at least a month. So finally have some good nutes soon.

Still leaves me with the girls i got going just now.I have put the clones in 2:1 perlite vercumilite mix and will just use a Hydroponic Hoagland's solution that i managed to find at a chinese Hydro store. I'm hoping this will keep them growing till the Dyna-gro arrives.

As i said ben it isnt that I am not taking your advice. I truly am limited by what i can get here.
Sorry about that, I now understand.

Glad DG is sending you some stuff. I think you'll love the ease and quality. 1 liter will go a long way.

Does Amazon ship over seas? This sure looks like a cheap and easy way to go, especially if you have a PayPal account. http://www.amazon.com/Dyna-Gro-7-9-5-1-Quart-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B0054YQ1WI

Yes, that is where i ordered it from. grateful for all the help. Seems i got a lot of studying to do to get on par with your knowledge of growing.

The hoaglands solution should provide an accessible complete nutrient??

I just did a quick cursory glance. Seems the hoaglands is the NPK but you still have to add micros, and too much or too little can spell trouble.

Looks pretty good. Compare it to Dyna-Gro and you'll have your answer.
