question about an hps ballast

I just bought a 400 watt hps ballast that does 120/240 volt ...can I run it on 120 to power a 400 hps bulb....I just ordered it today so I dont have it till Thursday

No not at all, the input voltage 120v or the 240 is boosted in the ballast to meet the requirements for the bulb selected

You would have to use a different cord. They usually come with the 120 cord and the 240 cord must be bought separately. The light output is the same either way.

ps I thought ALL lights shipped for the 240v cables ...?

half the voltage, twice the amperage, same amount of watts. 240v would allow you to run more on a circuit.

i use raw ballasts; i don't like to pay an extra hundred bucks for a fancy metal box...
