CalMag deficiency?

New room. these plants were healthy as can be. dark green leaves... 8 days into flower and these spots popped up... any idea what it could be? calcium deficiency? Probably affects half of the leaves...

75% FFOF mixed with 25% coco/perlite mix... half strength ff nutes PH 6.5... RO water with calimagic 1tsp per gallon.. WP_001338.jpgWP_001339.jpg

to me you can go full strength on the grow big ? the veg nutrients . and go from there . some of the plant is dark green some is lighter green . tells us it may be a bit hungry. and it could not hurt using some calm supplements . the plant looks very nice , I do see the small sports brownish . so you do have two SMALL issues not major at all. more nutrients and add follow directions on the calmag . problem solved .

found my problem. Ph meter was off terribly... and wouldnt hold a calibration. bought a new meter because the replacement electrode was damn near the same price... problem doesnt seem to be getting any worse after 2 days of properly ph'ed water

that is deff early stage cal mag deficiency. not just the spots give it away, but that deep green color combined with the use of the R O filter confirms it as well, even though your using a cal mag supplement. growth will be slowed. honestly cal mag liquid is a good quick fix. use as a folliar spray as well, but just so you know since your striping your cal from water with the R O by using the splash of cal mag to bring the hardness back up you still might not be adding enough. if i were you i would go away from the splash of cal mag every feeding because it will really mess up your ph over time. then you have to correct it with up or down and that will kill benifical microbes. i would start mixing your R O water with a blend of tap water to correct your solfness problem and use roots elemental or just dolomite lime. both will not throw off your ph and the elemental is the best shit ive ever seen for cal mag supplement and fixing this deficiency. dolomite lime would be better then the liquid as well mostly for ph reasons. your plant is alittle pissed off right now but you are in a position to get on top of it now and correct it before it becomes a real problem.

if you want to keep doing what your doing fine just might add more like 2 tsp of cal magic per gallon and you seem to keep a good eye on your ph so that should work as well. what is your ppm of dissolved solids from the tap before your RO?

Don't add tap water!
5ml Cal/Mag per gallon of RO is the baseline addition for RO.....You have Coco in the mix.....That needs Cal/Mag just like RO.....so add Cal/Mag at every watering........Plant is not pissed off.....and will recover just fine......
Your soil based,,,,pH to 6.5 AFTER you add all your nutrition and supplements....Soil self pH's if you keep it alive......use a "zyme" or like the Nerd said a good AACT tea works wonders.....Soil will rise in pH after watering and drop back down in pH as it dries out.....keep the ingoing at 6.5 and you'll be great..

Next time,,,,,leave the Coco out as that is your weak point in pH with the soil as the base.....How about a nice water only organic soil you make yourself?
Here is a nice simple organic soil.

Just a note here,,,,Microbes are killed faster with synthetic nutrition then with any pH adjustments....

i get your point and your right the plant is not really pissed off some take me to literally. Your way is most used by gardeners i get it but i was just offering this alternative. example water check for dissolved solids should ranger between 100 to 150 ppm. water that is to low(soft water) should be adjusted with a cal mag solution water to high can be fixed with a ionic or reverse osmosis filter right? but my alternative proposed this and for the following reasons. since we know that hard water in general prevents balanced nutrient uptake filtered water can be blended or mixed with unfiltered water to create water suitable for plants. i personally do not have water out of range but one gardener i know has water form his well at the range of 400ppm after he filters it comes out to around 5ppm way to soft. so he adds one part unfiltered to two parts filtered to bring him into range around 150ppm. therefore no need for the cal mag solution which can affect ph unlike other cal supplements. im a super soil person my self and lucked out on my water so just my 2 cents

True,,,BUT,,,you don't really know exactly what IS in the water.....Especially if it's well water!!! City water tends to have Chlorides (salts) in their water.....several kinds,,,,,why add that?

Yes, you must add Ca/Mg to RO.....5ml is the # per gallon for Hydro. I add less to RO for soil. But still add.
The Ca/Mg does 2 things. 1, It acts as a needed "buffer" and 2, Replaces the now unavailable Ca/Mg the plant will require in hydro applications.

You do not need to bring water ppms to 150 for use. In fact, when starting with a 0 ppm water (mine comes out that low for 6 months after a membrane change). And you add your nutrients and additives/supplements to that. I find I get bigger plants/buds faster then when using my 148ppm well water. Again, you just don't KNOW whats IN that 148ppm......Don't want to spend the $ to find out either....

Not arguing! Just making a point like you did.

also i pound the tea to my plants using the progress earth products bio weed oc

cool cool yea advanced water tests can be costly, water quality seems to be pretty in depth trade really

Not a bad tea at all

I have Vortex style brewers and do basic Bio teas from scratch.

1/3C Alfalfa meal
1/3C Worm castings
1/3C Blkstrp Molasses (I get mine from my local rest/baking supply outlet Gordon Foods, FAR cheaper then store price and higher in Carbs for a better cell count).

You bet water quality testing ain't cheap mano!

Peace on!

all is well here now. The look amazing... all the new growth is very healthy... just took a few waterings and a feeding. i'd snap some pics but the hps is on... and i cant use tap water. we are on well water in the middle of nowhere. and i was told it has too much iron in it? looks like piss and smells like sulfer. im scared to drink it. definitely not gonna give it to my babies
