Im coming up to my 1st harvest and was wondering if there's a quick guide to best result? Also is curing necessary??

Its not "necessary", but it makes for a much better smoke. Without curing, your dope will taste so bad you won't want to smoke it. Literally.

Yup, just like grass. Or hay.

Do a lil research.

A slow dry is preferred by most growers. Dry until outside of bud is almost crispy but the stems still bend without cracking. Jar them up, burp daily. It's a "feel" thing. Read a tutorial. The first time will more than likely not be perfect but you will learn what or what not to do next time.

Good Luck
Enjoy the fruits of your labor

cut branches off let it dry that way by hanging them or place on a dry net. makes it more stinky . then trim later when its dry more work but well worth it . if you chop buds when its wet off the branch and trim wet for some reason it don't stink as much

hey no problem tricks I have learned will pass them along keep in mind it will take 2 or 3 more days to dry my way so if the humidity is over 60 I don't suggest it . and always want to keep a eye ball open for mold . only in higher humidity .

Is a hygro a must? Im not new to smoking but this is #1 harvest. I have 2 other feminized in veg atm. 1 smokeybear and a mystery female. So im looking for the easiest options. Not much time on my hands. I have only 1 tent and was just going to hang in the tent with lights off and extractor on 24/7. Would this work or waste my time?

You could dry them in the tent with the lights off and your extraction fan running, just make sure to shut your circulating fan and intake fan (if you use one) off. Also be sure that the tent is clean when you do this. If there are any pathogens such as mold, fungus, or mildew, you could ruin a good bit of weed. I used to dry in a tent and I would always wipe all of the surfaces down with a bleach and water solution. I would recommend just hanging a like in a closet and let them dry like that. I also trim all of my leafs off before I dry. It is so much harder to trim after the plant has dried, and I don't think it has any effect of taste. The taste of your bud has to do with the terpines that reside inside the plants trichomes, so I don't see how wet trimming can effect taste. I think a shitty cure is more likely the culprit if you bud tastes like shit.

He pretty much nailed it for you. I always use a closet on my lower floor. Most people will tell you keep um in the dark in the low to mid 70s (F). I,ve dried in the dark usually about that but have dried in an 86 degree room before with pretty much same results. It's usually up to the grower but I like to dried a full 96 hours(4 days) before cure. I trim all the fan leaves and tip of sugar leaves before drying. After the 4 days I manicure the buds down to the size and shape I like and use the trimming for butter/hash/ oil/ or whatever you desire. Then tuppaware or jars work best and I seal em for about 12-15 hrs, most people do 24hrs. Then I'll burp them (pull them out of the jars for 30-60 mins.) and put them back in. After that I open them about 3 times a day for 15 min usually while I enjoy a smoke session then close them. This way works for me every time but everyone tweeks this same system to their own liking and you will too after your 1st harvest. BTW after the 4 day dry you can sample your bud as they should get you high but the potency IMO double after only a few days of cure, so it's kinda fun to wake up everyday knowing your pot was better than it was the day before. Patience though my first harvest i think I killed an ounce before my 3 rd day of cure and by day5 was mad that I hadn't preserved that dank. good luck bro!!

My cure is about the same as the Duke. I put them in jars and burp a couple/few times of day for the first week and then I let the jar sit open while I am "rolling it up" and that seems to let them breath enough. After two or three weeks I keep the jars sealed and in a dark spot until I am ready to get f---ed up. Good Luck Dude

Sounds good folks. I nipped a marshmallow sized nug from lower branches a few days ago. It seems pretty good. Nice high from it. Ill give it another week though I think.

Ps. When does the smell come? It smells at the min but not like bought bud.

im sure it smells like grass right now huh? it should start to smell after day 6-7 or about 2-3 days into curing. If you have really good genetics it will stink before harvest
