However, famed fitness guru Richard Simmons, 65, sprang to her defense.
The Los Angeles-based TV personality told the New Times:
'You can tell that what Joanna does comes from her soul, and that's what makes her stand out. She's precious.
'If you look at a lot of videos out there, it's only tough-looking people going harder and faster and stronger. But with Joanna . . . it only leads to smiles and rainbows - not thunder.'
The book is titled, 'Prancercise: The Art of Physical and Spiritual Excellence.'
As her website explains, Prancercise is about 'liberating ourselves from the fitness chains.'
'It's about self-expression. It's about non-violence. It's about conservation'
She recommends 'using imagery to imagine ourselves as a beautiful animal that’s a symbol of beauty, strength and endurance while we’re exercising in order to free our minds of any self image that may be less appealing.'
Listening to music you like while you Prancercise is also really important, she adds, because other peoples' music is basically prison.
She trademarked the term Prancercise and founded Prancercise LLC last year and frets over scenarios of intellectual property theft.
The retiree concluded: "I don't pay attention to the neighsayers. Get it? N-E-I-G-H. It doesn't bother me at all. I've always been special, and now all these people are finally noticing it. And I just wanna tell 'em, 'What took you so long?' "
