Ding Ding...round 3

Well.....I just found out that I am the first one to make this request through wcb Manitoba. They women was actually very supportive. She said I had no time limit to appeal and things might change federally that would make this acceptable...told me about all the new drugs that are available that are effective. So there you have it...I am special after all!
 
My GP offered savitex and another formulation (forget the name) to replace my flowers , in the event the mmpr was to be fully implemented back in march.
She did warn me of a fair amount of side effects in comparison to flowers as well.
So if the doctor prescribed it, I would have it covered by my health plan.
But when I checked they said a huge NO to covering flowers.
obviously they were not concerned too much about my health, but rather trying to not set a precedent ...
But I'm sure there are cases where it was covered but they are pretty tight lipped about any details getting out ,to
prevent a landslide of people getting coverage under the same methodology ,because they actually do cover a small number of people...
 
I wonder when you finally get the coverage and you will.....if they will require some sort of blanket waiver so that you can't speak about it in public.
maybe some sort of contract.....because with vets and some other tough type jobs... where you can become emotionally/psycologically damaged
they are being covered but I have yet to see how they get accepted and managed to skirt all the other insurance companies fine print.....

Maybe I need to go the naturopathic route...herbal meds...I'm getting desperate now as this is the last kick at the cat on this issue.

Sativex is the marketing name for Nabilone.
 
Apologies...I misread the name.

Nabilone is the name for the brand Cesamet, which is a synthetic cannabinoid.
Nabiximols is the name for Sativex.
 
So I didn't even have the right name-what an idiot! Either way, so Sativex is not approved for use in Canada? Ok then they'll pay for Nabilone but not marijuana. Where does Nabilone come from? Of course, it's a man made cannabinoid (read big pharma)But why use a cannabinoid? Because they fucking work. Is this really that hard to grasp? It must be me.

So, I'm thinking maybe herbal therapy might be an approach. I'll have to really take my time and make sure all my ducks are in a row. I'm supposed to mitigate my injury as much as possible as long as they like it. It is so nonsensical.

I was just looking up Sativex...gw pharma .....isn't that the co in uk thats's trying to standardize marijuana to make a vaporizer/inhaler. There was a video a while ago wasn't there, that scared the shit out of me anyway.
 
If you could patent marijuana it would be at every drug store. But you can't so it ain't. That's why they are creating analogues that they can protect and have exclusive rights to.

Marinol is a synthetic THC capsule, unlike Sativex which is a more CBD based tincture/oil. It's completely useless really as it lacks any other cannibinoids and isn't even processed from natural cannabis, missing out on the whole "entourage effect". I was given it a few times during hospital stays after nurses/doctors found out I use marijuana. Wouldn't let me go outside to smoke a joint, but hey have some pills, it's the same right?

That is exactly what they said to me as well.."there are so many new drugs,on the market". Ya but I don't want to be the guinea pig any more and start over, I have something that works that has no unwanted side effects. They just don't want to get it.

Sativex is an even ratio of CBD and THC but its so damned low that it makes no bloody difference.This is from GW Pharma's PDF:
"Each 100 microlitre spray contains 2.7 mg delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol and 2.5 mg Cannabidiol"
I have never heard of Sativex working for anyone who uses flower that was prescribed it.

Higher tolerance?
 
Weak product. Anything taken sublingually enters the bloodstream quickly and Sativex still gets poor results even with that particular method of delivery going for it.

I am one person that Sativex has worked for, who also uses flower.

I was prescribed Sativex for 5 weeks, and it was responsible for taking me out of a severe flare-up with my auto-immune disease, better for me, than Methotrexate/Prednisone combo. I was taking upwards of 10 sprays a day at the height of things.

It was my first experience using any cannabis product with 1:1 THC:CBD ratio, and it opened my eyes to the potential power of CBD.

I only stopped using Sativex after 5 weeks, as it wasn't covered by my insurer and I had to pay out of pocket...$$$. I started sourcing CBD-rich strains after this (this was in 2011)...and had to grow out a bunch of strains to find CBD-rich phenos.

Havent looked back since...and havent had a major flare-up since...
