Not sure if its that critical but my buddy let the water get low enough for at least 24 hours that the roots were exposed to air....just below those cups.....like maybe 3/4 of an inch.

those were beautiful vibrant plants a week ago and they just dying......Ive used a TDS meter and made sure that the PPM was going down and not concentrating so I didnt think they could get burned as long as the nute concentration is going down every day and not increasing?????

Allthough......if the plants were thriving a week ago on the same water source.....which is distilled water....it seemed to me that ph wasnt the cause......they were growing like crazy in the distilled water with half nutes.......then bam....dying.....Any idea what the slime in the pot is from

get that up.. Ive noted they tend to do better with a slightly higher PH..

sounds like root rot if your saying its like a "slime"...

Looks like algae bro, I would say add some hydrogen peroxide to your water and take dankster's advice about the ph.
If the algae dies then you could add some compost tea to the water to prevent it from happening again.

this is why i don't grow hydro. too complicated and easily prone to screw-ups.

I agree. 100%. Either algae, or slime(root rot). 1 of the 2. Like you stated, the HP works great 4 this.

Boy your not kidding.. thats why Im doing soil as my medium + air injection. Getting ready to add in drip lines to that
