Sick seedlings, please help!

Hey guys, hoping you can help me save these girls before it gets worse. I've tried fallowing the self diagnosis but I feel like I should get a solid answer if you guys see pics and know my situation. Please help me guys!

1. Total of 15 feminized seeds in solo cups, under 2 105w cfls 6500k, 1 55w 2700k, and 3 26w 5000k cfls. (All cfls a couple inches away from plants) Temps stay between 75-80 degrees, they have good air flow. (Will be transplanting and moving outside after the weekend)

2. I was watering once every other day or when the soil got really dry. but I've been cutting back to watering every other day or every 2 days. The first week I used Poland springs water and switched to walmart brand spring water about a week ago.

3. My growing medium is almost identical to pro mix (green formula: the color of nature). Peat moss, alot of perlite, vermiculite, limestone, fertilizer starter charge and a wetting agent.

4. All the plants are exactly 2 weeks old. All of them germed great and were super healthy till about 4-5 days ago. I'm growing purple maroc, easy sativa and c99.

Ok it started a couple days ago when I noticed my c99s 2nd set of leaves were starting to yellow and droop. Still looking healthy I just figured I must have been over watering them. So I held off on watering for a couple days and day after day the bottom leaves would get yellower and yellower. The burn spots then started to get much worse, starting at the tip or edges of the leaves and scattered.

Now, my c99s are the biggest and were the first ones to show signs of this, about a week before my Pm's and easys. Now my Pm's and easy sativas are showing signs too, the second set of leaves are starting to fade to a yellow, and on all of them the first small set of leaves are all a bright yellow and twisting. The other day I fed them with a very very light dose of Alaska fish fertilizer hoping to bring them back. Without any noticeable luck. I bought a cheap $10 ph meter and tested the water I was using and it was a little bit over 7. Not good i know, but the meter is junk. Thinking of getting ph down. What do you guys think? Any input would be appreciated!

If what I see is what I think I see, you have them in multiple cups layered.

That's not good because ur suffocating ur roots and retaining too much water

One cup, with holes along the bottom and even a couple on the little ridge it has on the side of the very bottom.


Might be dry on top withroots drowning underneath, I could beblind tho

Thanks for the reply, I do have small holes in the bottom of the cups and sides. But I literally have to drown the soil to get any run off water so I haven't seen any real drainage. My lights and fans do dry out the soil pretty fast and i never over water so there not sitting in muddy soil.

Yes I do have them all in quit a few layers of cups so they are closer to the lights. Do you think that would cause yellowing and burning like that? The first sign of the c99 acting up a few days ago I took it out of the layered cups and haven't seen a differents. It's just getting worse.

Patience my man maybe they could use a transplant and never layer cups I learned the hard way

You want to see a runoff every time you water, and it should not take a drowning of the plants in cups that size to produce a runoff either. With my cups of the same size, it doesn't take much water at all to get a runoff. I would do as Erie says and only use one cup per seedling. Like Erie says, it also provides more airflow to the roots which helps them recieve oxygen and also dry more properly. There really is no point to have more than one cup. If you are worried about water coming out while watering then just get a saucer to put them on.

I will be most likely transplanting on Sunday. I appreciate the advice, I'm going to get them all out of the layered cups and add more holes to the bottom sides. And put a fan directly on them.

Any other input/advice would be appreciated.

I'm thinking that some properly ph'd water along with the Alaska fish fert you are using should go a long way on those. Maybe just do a little bit extra on the fert next time you feed, depending on how light your last feeding was. They just look hungry to me and if they are not ph'd properly it prevents them from up taking certain nutes.

Yeah man no problem, right now I'm adding small holes all along the sides and more on the bottom. And I'm getting ride of the layered cups. This pic was take an hour ago. Ill post another if you want when I'm done.

Thanks man. I have yet to use cfl's myself, but from the picture it seems as though there are plenty of dark places within your seedlings. I know you said they were pretty close to them, like 2 inches, but I know they can get even closer. Hopefully someone with more cfl experience will correct me if I'm wrong. I can see why you keep them a couple inches away, to allow more light spread, but after a few inches those lights barely have any lumens. I'm thinking you might need some supplemental light to take care of 15 plants, but maybe others have accomplished what you are doing. Possibly some reflectors for those would help so you don't lose as many lumens. So what I'm thinking is that the yellowing of the bottom leaves are a lack of light, although it could be a different issue. The seedling in the last pic of your original post looks healthy to me, so it seems this is not an issue with every seedling. Are you noticing that the ones yellowing more are placed on the outside of your formation?

thanks for the reply man, I'm not to worried about the lights at all really because they will be going outside most likely next week with the exception of a cotton candy seedling, might want to keep her indoors for an early harvest. The c99s were off to the side under the 26 watters, but I don't believe this effected them cause they were growing the best out of all of them. The Pm's and easy sativas started to show similar signs too, the second set of leaves on them are fading to a yellow with very little burn spots on some. Some look healthier then others but I believe it's all because of the same thing. I just hope my baby's recover

The medium is causing this,either through off ph ,salt build up or no nutes in it. Carefully transplant into quality coco and use hydro nutes both of which are designed to grow cannabis , you wont have a yellow leaf and they will grow quickly . The soil and nutes your using is just guessing and it doesn't work.

I was thinking this too but it's suppose to be ph balanced, it has lime in it. What am I supposed to do with the 40lbs I got left? I dident spend alot but around $30. And I'll be moving them out side soon, and coco can get expensive. And even worse news my 12 Pm's and easy sativas are getting much worse at an accelerating rate.
