First I want to say you did a great job with your stealth closet Dave!, Only thing I would fix/change is the power line going into the door. Splice the wall plug and run it into the room directly. No suspicious ???'s about the cords going into the room power what??? lol:)

Remove your stressed girls out of the rockwool and place them directly into your media OR keep them less saturated........

be safe grower

Great job finishing your set-up. Where did you find those colored puzzle pads? I remember my day care using the exact same thing, never thought of them for a sound buffer purpose before, clever!

Yeah, that does look suspicious with the power cord going into the closet. :-) That's great advice about splicing the power outlet. I'll keep it in mind for a future improvement.

Thanks for the advice about the Rockwool cubes too. You're right that they were too saturated. I squeezed a little water out of them last night after taking these photos. Gotta get my hydro systems going now!

Looking good Dave! I like the new setup, really clean. Went through some crazy stuff lately and haven't been able to post anything but I'm gonna update everything hopefully today or tomorrow. Can't wait to see what your babies do this time!

Hey, Rubix! Glad to see you here again. I've been away from riu for a while myself. Let me know where you're posting nowadays. Your first grow was freakin awesome!

The ladies are looking MUCH better today:

Bought a new fan today. It’s pretty strong for a narrow fan and it oscillates. It even has an ionizer built in. That Inda-gro lamp is hot, so I needed something bigger than my PC fans. Think I’ll mount a shelf above it where I’ll put my air pump(s). Bought a pretty good pump today that isn’t too loud.

You really got them looking good again. Your new grow room looks great too. Just gotta get those ladies in the room

Yup! Getting a big bag of Perlite delivered today, so I'm planning to work on putting together my hydro systems. Got one built already, so just need to build a 2nd one. Planning to grow the best 3 out of the 4 plants, two of them in one big tub that I'll put together.

Two Down, One to Go…

Finally finished the most important parts of my new grow room and got 2 of my ladies planted in a hydro system. Got lots of photos showing the progress.

Here I’m testing out last grow’s hydro system, after fixing it up so that the bucket won’t sink down into the hole in the shelf. Also wanted to flush some of the Perlite dust out of the grow medium by running water through it:

The new bucket is an 18-gallon bin that I planted 2 of my seedlings into. Here’s how I put it together:

1) Shelf on top of another 7-gallon bus tray. Just one hole in the upper right corner of the shelf here:

2) On top of the shelf, placed the bottom half of a matching bucket that has a bulkhead and drain tube extending down into the res. The river stones will maintain a gap between the bins so that water can flow down into the drain hole.

3) Main bucket goes into that bin. It has 6 holes in the bottom covered with screen door patches:

4) Filled bin with Perlite and connected the water pump with 2 watering rings on top:

5) Stapled white plastic all around the room to make the walls more reflective. Also hung the Area 51 light:

6) Put up a shelf on the left wall to rest an air pump on, and other things:

7) Hung the electrical outlets & timers on the back wall:

There are 3 things not connected to the daily timer (always on):

  • The floor fan (because it won’t turn back on when power goes on),
  • The exhaust fan and
  • The air pump.
The water pumps only go on during the day.
— 5 minutes on, 2 hours off for the time being:

Making sure everything fits and can be placed directly under the lights:

Mixed up nutes and planted the 2 best ladies in here:

Hooked up the air pump:

Moved the Green Gator air filter over to the left to make room for the Area 51 light:

I’ll set up the Area 51 panel later after the seedlings grow a little bigger. Right now I’ll just use the Inda-Gro for all of them. It’s hung 36” above the seedlings for now.

These 2 ladies will grow up to be lesbian lovers, sharing the same bucket, intermingling their roots and branches. (mmmmmm... lesbians… :P) In this system the roots won’t hang down into the res water below. If they should happen to grow through the screens, I’ll need to occasionally unclog the drain pipe, but I’m hoping that won’t happen. They should have plenty of room to grow in an 18-gallon bucket though.

looks gtreat also. you will get some fat buds. I have my IG at 30 inches for seedlings, 24 inches for rooted clones. 20 inches for larger plants. 14-15 inches away during flower. for flower that's with the pontoon. So you would be ok at 12 inches away during flower.

Thanks Hyroot! I was wondering what height to use. Was about to go to Inda-Gro's web site to hunt for it. You saved me a lot of work!
