I just HAVE to ask.......Where did you get the idea that the "seedling", "feeds" off the shell anyway?

The shell is simply a disposable container for the potential living plant inside. The seed is watered. The growth begins if the conditions are right. The increasing size of the Radicle (root) and the Hypocotyl (stem) splits the shell and begins to spread. The sprout push's the seedling up from the soil. All of the "food" needed to reach this point is supplied by the "seed" inside the shell....The 2 halves of the seed begin to form the first leaves called "Cotyledons". As these progress, they spread out the shell and eventually "eject" it from the "Sporophyte" (seedling) and begin to photosynthesize.

At no time. In any seed bearing plant. Does the seed derive "food" from the "shell".....
Don't mean to blind you with science. But we don't need to start any misinformation either....

Don't go claiming I'm spreading around incorrect info when you've never done any personal extensive research with seeds opposed from reading things on the internet. I've heard it from some well respected farmers (not herb), not to mention my experiences and personal understandigs. When I first started growing I was always over eger to help my plants along, at times included removing the shell. There has been quite a few times I have done this an every time it leaves the cots not fully developed and they don't eventually finish either(I'll post a pic of the one that's doing it now that I took the shell from early). When you remove the shell early you'll notice a little shinny green flake/husk, opposed to letting the seedling break the shell away on it's own, cots are fully developed and there's no shinny green flake/husk inside. If your so sure they don't at any point in time ever need anything from the shell take a prizes seed, carefully open it up, remove the shell and post a thread back here on your results.

Sonny boy,,,,my post is based on college classes......not internet reading!
The shinny thing inside is a "safety blanket" to protect the actual "living" seed from the shell (and the shell protects the whole thing before germination) as it grows....Yes, your shinny thing is "absorbed" for the most part by the seedling for nutrition......The seed takes no NUTRITION from the shell it's self....

Yeah ,, I read my posts.....I put it in terms that are easy to understand for the bulk of the people around here....

That's enough,,,,,,I MADE my point......I attempted being nice....you didn't.

Ignore

if it doesn't shed its nut, its a bad machine, and should be destroyed with fire. crack extra beans; solved,
the nutrition needed for the seedling is concentrated within the germ itself, in the form of sugars, and other compounds. the shell is suitcase.

Well a safety blanket around some thing in my book would be considered a shell, especially if it's there to protect some thing. When you remove the shell that shiny husk stays apart of the shell not the seedling so when you remove it before it's ready your not letting it finish eat. I wasn't saying it eats the shell to the point where it's non existant any more. I wasn't mean, i was a little defensive when my information basised upon theory's from personal experience and that of a few in a career that revolves around the topic was discretited to ignorance and made stupid.

Here's that pic I said I would put up earlier of the cause of a shell being removed early.

Getting your cot leaves out is good, but you still need to see a new growth shoot develop before you celebrate. I've been down this road so hope you get better results than I did! She'll be something special for sure if she makes it.
Update for all. Slow as all hell but surely. Next to here is comparison to how slow she is others were started same time

I just might cry if it ends up a dude

She's still a slow grower but still chugging along. She grows one leaf for each node, kinda weird.

Line up(left to right): Purple Kush X Querkle, Pineapple Express, Super Sour Silver Diesel Haze

All were germed an popped at the same time
