hey riu
i was speaking to a couple fellow (more experienced members) and they was saying that a hps would always seriously beat cfls, i know a few people who grew with hps and got high yeilds but they were all photos (12/12), i have only grown with cfls myself and good some decent smoke, but not very high yeild, i thought this was because they were auto strains, so my question is, how would a hps grow differ from a cfl grow eg. yeild and potency, i have a sweet tooth auto which i plan to get about 35g dryed, would it increase this highly, because maximum yeild is 200g (seed bank) also has anyone tryed growing sweet tooth auto before, thanks for reading.
ps: sorry about the serious noob question, i just thought its time to step up a gear,

I will put my T-5 grows up against any HID grow on autos. It kills me to run HID for 24 hours a day. Not worth the yield to me.

so, if i was going to stop autos and go for photos, then the T5's would definetly be worth the cost of running, may i ask how much the t5's cost to run compared to hps/hid/cfl, willing to put in the extra money if it is worth it

i have don a little research and they seem very good, i like the sounds of them, do they get as hot as hps, and can you plug them straight into mains or do you need a ballast, or wire it up to the mains?, sorry about ask

yeah, cfl's dont do that loool, if i was going to start photos do you know any forgiving/hardy strains that i can test my autoflower methods with to see if they work the same way?

very good, i think i have been going about things a little wrong, and trying to (the only word i can find is) rush things a bit, and i was trying ti do it the cheap way, i think i have to stop growing as a hobby and change into a life style coz, what i saw in your pic is worth it, what im doing is a bit of smoke now and again, so would t5's be a goid option for someone coming off cfls?

You have to plan what you are doing to meet the demand of what you want, I really never tell new growers to duplicate my lights because I'm not a new grower and I understand how to properly use lights and honestly you would be very surprised how many folks don't have a clue how to use lights, the whole get em as close as you can thing is so very wrong but to answer your question, a cfl is a T5 just rolled up into a little ball so yes they are very similar

I keep the t5 about 2-4 inches away. Be careful. I have seen autos grow 4 inches a day.

I keep mine over 2 feet away, very few growers would do this and most don't understand how I'm able to grow 18 inch colas with em but once you understand how to use light as a tool in your garden it is a no brainer , I talk about it in my thread but there is a lot to read to get there

Hell I'll put my T5 grows up against any HID on photos

T5's ROCK !!!
So what's your yield? What's the size of your grow space? How much would expect to yield if you we're running 1000w hps, have you used a 1000w hps as a comparison?

Unless u can fit in that many t5s as hogbud lol has got he has a massive grow room if u just have a tent or cupboard then of course hids will win in yield use a mh for veg u will get very good growth rate this is for a auto so sp3ed is very important then switch 2 hps u have 3 weeks to get your auto pumpin they main thing with autos is to have rapid growth during it veg start off in the biggest pot u have water fck all for the first week so it roots deep go easy on nuts cfl take more time no way 400w of cfls will out grow a 400w mh bulb in veg go look on the net uwnt rapid growth tight nodes go a mh20140612_102004.jpg
400w of mh for 3 then 1 week of hps startin to bud nice will yield 4 plants I reakon 10 oz dry maybe more
There northen lights autos

I don't always weigh my grows as I grow for myself and don't care, I have gotten a pound from two 3 foot tall plants and I got 2.5 pounds from 4 5 foot tall plants, my area is 5 X 5 and I normally only grow a few plants in it

It might be totally true that an HPS would out yield me but I know for a fact mine will be way more potent
