yes, mars' atmosphere is thin, but it's 96% co2, and thats supposed to make all the difference...

i dont have to amend my argument, it was not directed at you, i did not respond to any statement you made

how can anything "back up your statement" when i never said shit to dispute your statement.

You made a false statement, sense dictates that you amend your mistake. I make mistakes and correct myself often, it's only human, it's okay.

If mars has an atmosphere that has a thickness of a few hundred meters and doesn't contain much of anything at all, you made a false statement. That's all.

my statements were not false.

they were spot on.

i detailed the various temps during the day and night, and made NO REFERENCE to the atmospheric densities, merely their content.

you may have inferred something, but i made no implications.

and if wishes was horses, we would all be eating steak.

pada asserted that venus' proximity to the sun is irrelevant to it's temp, that co2 was the cause, which is patently idiotic.

venus gets 2x the solar radiation of the earth, which caused the problem in the first place.

my comparison of mars to venus vis a vis the co2 content was simply snarkiness

if it had no atmosphere, mars would, like the moon or mercury, drop down to -300degrees f when it got dark

Venus is hotter than Mercury dummy, Mercury is closer to the Sun than Venus. That fact alone completely invalidates what you are proposing; "closer to the Sun=hotter"

mercury day time temps ~NINE HUNDRED DEGREES!
Venus daytime temps ~800 degrees

without it's thick overcoat of gasses, venus would not be even as hot as it is, but mercury is still hotter, just any location on mercury spends about half it's time being -300 degrees cuz it's dark and mercury forgot it's mittens.

if venus were on the same orbital track as earth it could be quite pleasant, and would not have boiled off it's hydrogen oxygen and nitrogen.

being closer to the sun and recieving TWICE the solar radiaiton is what started the burnoff of it's lighter gases, released all that co2 from the crust, and turned it inot a pressure cooker.

venus too demonstrates that heat does it's thing, then co2 follows

or are you going to argue that venus' greenhousing was anthropogenic?
