Burping Question

So I dried out my buds for about 5 days or so...It was right around 70 and just under 50% humidity....

I thought I had dried them out too much cause they were really kinda crispy on the outside...The first time I burped them they were still kinda dry...Today which was about 30 hours after the first burp I noticed they were real sticky and kinda moist....

How concerned should I be about that moisture ? Would you say it's normal to get a little moist again ?

Do I consider drying them out more ? Or maybe just burp them for like an hour or so ?

Comments & Advice appreciated....RIU Rocks ! :weed: :peace:

i usually place my buds into jars a day earlier than i should but i am always afraid of drying too much. so jarring early will mean it will only be in a jar for about 4 hours and then into paper bags. each time will be a shorter time in a bag and longer in the jar.

it is hard to say how long you should leave the jars open. i need to feel and smell the buds to know if it needs to air a bit or just a burp to exchange the air. it will come with experience and you will know what to do.

i just burped mine and in half of them i put in a 62% boveda humidipak. first time trying these.

From my understanding after your buds get slightly squishy on the outside again you can either put them in paper bags to complete the drying process or you can just leave the jars open like i do until they get dry. Works either way imo. GL!

Ideally you wanna jar just before the stems start to snap..you`re not going for crispy. You can burp the jar for an hour at a time until desired moisture is achieved. Careful not to over dry. Burping just allows the excess moisture to escape while jarring allows the moisture to be distributed evenly. If jarring, only fill jar to about half full..don`t over fill.

thanks for the replies guys...I have had the tops of the jars for about 1hr 45 min, and they all seemed dry enough to put the tops back on but two jars...Those two jars the buds are almost as big as the 1 qt. jars they're in....So I am drying those out a little extra more....Seems like they were a little more moist.....

I would invest some coin for a r/h meter for each and every jar your curing in. I cure in 36 1/2 gallon wide mount jars and each has a r/h meter inside it when curing. sure I have $90.00 in mason jars and $215.00 in r/h meters, 20.00 in batteries, and another $30.00 in 62% broveda packs, but knowing your curing at the right r/h level and not worrying about mold is priceless.

boveda packs rock..you'll never have mold and always a perfect cure!

broveda packs do NOT prevent mold or cure your medicine. plenty of air, and opening your jars when needed cures and prevents mold. the packs help keep your cured medicine (once cured) at a proper useable moisture rate for long periods of time andkeeps the medicine from drying out over a long period of time.

if you cure via jar, boveda keeps it at 62% which means no need for rh meter and i cure with the packs..never had an issue.

viva la difference.
