What would be a good number of cfls to have and what watt ? I only have one plant going right now
How many will fit into your box?
More wattage is needed for your grow...
What's the point of growing?
60 watts of CFL is not enough to grow a healthy plant that will yield you anything....
CFL=Low Yield....
I Know... I veg with CFL a lot of them....
Add more... or else your yield will be like 4-8 grams...
Now why would you go to the trouble of learning how to grow, feed the plant, water it, and then harvest it [3 months from now]....and get 4 grams...

You are breaking the law, and for what... 4 grams of pot?

This part of newbies thinking I do not understand...

Well most of em dont know what they are doing, which is why newbie central is here, for people with little knowledge on growing pot and need help from some more experienced growers. No need to bash on em, my first attempt i had 3 cfls in a cardboard box lined in aluminum foil and mg soil, yielded a measly 12 grams. Now with more experience im getting almost 2 zips off my plants using cfls in a mylar tent.

Just make sure to switch those 6500k floros over to 2700k when u switch to flower, maybe leave 1 6500k in there to get a mixed spectrum (plants appreciate it).

Will do bro :) ive been doing some research and ive decided to go with the slyverstar t-5 4 lamp 2ft lighting system putting out 8,000 lumens at 6500k then when i flower im going to go with 3500k lights :) ... since it has 4 bulbs could i do 2 6500k and 2 3500k bulbs ? Or does it really matter THAT much ?
Stepping up to T5 is a good move imo.

I have a 4 ft 8 tube version for vegging that works very well, I also use it for flowering if there is an overflow in the flowing tent.

For flowering you simply switch out two of the 6500k's and put in two 2700k tubes and up, up and away.

You will find that everything matters in growing.

Alright so i need to get a fan for the inside to blow on my plants then get a carbon filter fan for the exhaust ?
Correct a mondo.

You are kinda getting two fans, one to move air and the other will be in the carbon filter kit, sucking hot odorised air out of the box and your property. Don't just be concerned with keeping the grow box cool think about the whole room.

You may also need to add a foot on the length of your box.

The rig is two foot long your box is two foot long, you don’t want to block your light with the carbon filter or fan.

Solution lengthen your box by around a foot, put your light in the middle, on the one side of the light have your blowing fan on the other your exhaust system, with this additional space you wont be blocking any light.

On the other hand if you’re only growing one plant you can probably fit it all in fine.

I grow with CFL's to u might wanna use side lighting I use 22 26 watt lights for canopy and 6 42 watters along the side with Pretty good results since its CFL I increase the lighting slowly so heat doesnt stress out the ladies while there young i also use a 4 in fan and a cool mist humidifier with ice keeps the temps down when at full lightedge while in veg. Still working on reducing temps in flower peaking at 87 thinking of getting a larger fan. I got a thread posted on this subjects in this same forum if anyone wants to jump in.
