Just don't tie them tight because as they grow it will cut into them. Then when they start to bud you can use the bamboo shoots and twine to make something to support the weight we all hope you're going to get. If any branches brake, if they are still somewhat attached and alive you can use duct tape to mend and they will survive.(hint to always carry duct tape to spot for doctoring girls).
Why I'm at it, for all you that don't have your girls so you can check them regularly, due to the hot humid days followed by the cool nights and then cold days and etc.. I'v noticed a few spots of PM starting to develop so be on the watch till we get some steady warm weather.
