Anyone else have trouble sleeping?

Thanks! I have refused sleeping pills on a number of occasions from doctors, because - they're bullshit.
I'm not going to take a drug to put me to sleep because the drug that's supposed to make me happy isn't allowing me to sleep...

Wal-mart it is!

I just saw where sunni already recommended Melatonin, sorry. But I disagree with the every other night thing. I take that shit EVERY night and sleep like a teenager. Pop 2 5mg tablets one hour before I WANT to be asleep and PRESTO, I'm gone. And no middle of the night waking up either. Stuff worked wonders for me.

I'm totally on board - gonna try it!

I'm not sure how it will effect my sleeping currently, because it's the weening off the Celexa that is doing it - I think. But if it might work, I'll try it!

I'd prefer to use my cookies for conscious joy, not overdosed sleep...

Melatonin is a hormone,
if you choose to take it every single night fine by you

possible issues with taking every night include
hormonal imbalance
no sex drive, or sexual imbalance, sexual related problems
Influence of your immune system
melatonin should not be taken by anyone who has any history of depression
all and all melatonin should be used sparsely as it is a hormone which can indeed trick your brain into producing less and less of that hormone making you NEED melatonin to produce the hormone itself

Melatonin is also fairly new to the natural supplement field and is being researched on but not enough has been done to take it everyday
10 mgs of Melatonin will put you to sleep, and it's natural, not a drug, and it's cheap as shit at any Walmart-like store. Get you some !!!!!!
You're also completely taking way to much you should only take 3-6mg the fact that you need to take TWO 5mgs shows how much damage youre potentially doing to your hormonal system

dont.
I was unaware you were weening off anti depressants
you cannot and should not take melatonin as it has side effects with anti depressants

Now that^^^^^^^^^^^ I agree with.

But the shit helps me sleep and I've been taking it for almost 2 years now with no adverse effects. My personal physicians has never given me any negative feedback with my dosage/frequency, but I take no other medications either.

they wouldnt have anything to go off of checking your hormone levels isnt something doctors check for unless you have certain medical problems not really apart of routine check ups ya know?

Also doctors i find dont really give a shit what you take or do , at least in my experience.

To each their own opinion, but since I cohabitate and support said doctors sister/nephews/niece I'm pretty sure she gives a shit about me/us. But I'll be sure to bring up the points you made, see what she has to say.

Sure Id love to see what she says, I have references and studies to show Im not talking otu fo my ass or anything I am in the medical field so I know quiet abit specifically on natural foods/supplements

@Yessica... Youre pretty much fucked for natural supplements like melatonin valerian ect, until youre completely off your anti depression pills its just not safe youre going to have to stick to calming herbal tea and convince yourself to sleep or go to a doctor and get sleeping pills which is just not good either

kava kava is probably the scariest out of natural supplements for sleep as its extremely dangerous to the liver (a healthy one) and can cause death.
its banned in canada, and a few other countries i believe.

Well..... glad I asked. :???: Ty
as long as you dont ever drink and dont take very much and have no liver problems its mostl ikely safe
but youd have to get your liver checked first, to see if you have any issues in your liver
youd also never be able to drink
and should never exceed over 4 weeks use of kava kava

I've only ever taken kava kava on rare occasion. stopped drinking 100% a number of years ago. thank you for your insight sunni... i'm at point in my life where i really need to examine all aspects of my health and well-being, which definitely includes sleep concerns.

if you want help im defiantly the person to go to for health and well being

my honest opinion sleep problems start with what you put into your body. people arent aware of how sugars they are consuming in prepackaged foods

Whew - didn't buy any hormones while I was out - and looks like that's a good thing. I usually ask the pharmascist with whatever I buy anyways, because Celexa has so many drug reactions with other things.

I think I'm going to try punch dancing out my rage to make me sleepy...there's a wooded glen nearby...

What are you eating on a typical day yessica
I know celexa does have many natural and drug interactions but i truly wanna help you maybe get to sleep

Tell me everything you eat or drink during a normal day
ie
coffee x4 , ect

let me know, and we will go from there, what other drugs are you taking if any
and you mentioned cookies as well, which always have sugar in them copious amounts too
I wanna help you get to sleep so lets see if we can do it

The cookies actually help me sleep, for all of last week I was in a cookie coma by 9pm.

Food - has been an issue. In weening off the Celexa, I have no appetite and actually get sick every morning. Or if I eat anything before, say 2pm?

I've taken gravol for the last 3 days, and that seems to help in the morning. It doesn't make me sleepy - which is odd, because it usually did if I took it in the past.

I bought some boost, and that seems pretty good in the morning.

So, typical day:

- coffee x 1 (I usually drink more but can't nowadays, makes me feel icky)
- green tea x 2 bags (I usually make 4 cups, and then drink it cold later)
- water - probably close to 6 L or more - I have been extremely thirsty
- no alcohol
- boost (360 cals) x 2
- high calorie dinner (mcdonald's, butter chicken, pizza, donair's, pasta)

I feel fine to eat by dinner time, and I'm usually hungry - so I can eat a lot.

I don't snack late night.

Then I go to sleep around 10? And wake up around 3. Or sleep at 11, wake up at 4.

And when I wake up - I am AWAKE. No coffee needed.

Sometimes if I wake up at 3 or earlier, I can stay up for an hour, and then get back to sleep for another 2. Sometimes not.
