So i had the brilliant idea to grow 5 plants in one pot. I know.. stupid.. the pot i used is a foot and a half tall tub that has enough room to space the plants about 6-8 inches apart. the problem im thinking i have is that the roots are limited in their space.I want to give them more space. but cant figure out how. I would think transplanting them individually would damage the root systems significantly. any suggestions from people who know what they're doing?

dont worry about it man i kinda rip my plants out when transplanting it aint really gunna hurt them that much unless u brutalize them when u take em out im talking about snapping that tap root but besides from that u will be fine the white hairs will grow back that big thick white 1 u snap that and its all over

Don't be scared! In my experience you REALLLLLY have to damage the roots to cause shock, and even if you do they usually bounce back. If I have a plant I left in a container too long and it's slightly root bound, I'll take it out and with scissors make a few big cuts through the roots-then transplant-and it never slows them down.

Just be careful-you can even use a spade and cut them out in 'circles'- even if your cutting through roots(they sell a spade with a serated edge for this exact purpose) it's not a big deal. I don't recommend doing it if you don't have to, but in your situation you have too. If you don't seperate them, they probably won't survive/your gonna have issues-so you have nothing to loose.

I was about to tell almost the SAME story- left a plant I was planning on culling out for a few days-exposed roots with very little medium on them-after i realize it was still alive days later, sitting under a table in my grow room, for shits and giggles I replanted it and watered it with some superthrive and it bounced right back.

And yea, B vitamins/ammino acid/kelp extracts are all good 'tansplant/root' tonics. Superthrive is abused and should only be used sparingly, but it's great for clones and right after a transplant. I'm a big fan of floralicious plus which is a seaweed/kelp/humic acid product-I use that throughout the entire life of my plants. I swear by that stuff.

thanks so much for all the responses guys! so itll be ok to dig them out one by one as long as the main root systems remain in tact? should i dig all the way down to the bottom to pull them up to make sure i dont hit the tap root? im not sure how far down it is right now. any suggestions on what size pot to put them back into?

do you put this into them prior to extraction or just after?
