Hi guys, newbie grower here setting up my first grow. Planning on doing a scrog. I have been reading about making bottles of CO2 with yeast/sugar. I was thinking of making a system which would consists of tubing (which has had holes poked in it to allow the CO2 to fall on the plants) being hung above the screen used for the scrog, and attaching the ends of the tubing system to the lids of bottles (by drilling holes down the cap of the bottle and siliconing the edge to make a seal) filled with the yeast sugar mix.

I was thinking that as the CO2 builds up in the bottles, eventually it will make its way up the tubing and around the system, out of the holes i will poke in the tubing and fall onto the plants. I will change the bottles every 1 or two weeks.

My question is, will this work? I Can't see why not but have no experience. Any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated.:hump::joint:

Im sure it would work but im not so sure you'd see any added benifit,running co2 is a precise thing,not enough & its valueless,too much & it hammers your plants,conditions must be perfect for co2 to even work at all.

thanks for the quick replys guys. I guess i may not use this idea as it seems most people don't think it will benefit the plants. I just thought i would give it a go as I knew CO2 is very important for growth, and am able to construct this 'sytem' for less than $15, plus it is very straight forward and not complicated. I did NOT know that CO2 was a precise process, i thought that any additional CO2 would be beneficial, but can see that I have ALOT more reading to do.

Everywhere i read about CO2 there seems to be info recommending the yeast/sugar home made method, yet no-one on the forums seem to back this method. Would this be a fair statement that the yeast/sugar method doesn't really improve the plants at all? That CO2 should only be used if it can be carefully controlled and monitored?

For the little amount of CO2 that you're going to generate in a yeast/sugar CO2 generation system you are quite literally better of just blowing on you plants once in awhile (vital capacity of an average lung is 4.5 liters and an exhaled breathe is around 45,000 ppm CO2 and, get this, you have 2 lungs to boot!).

Yeah dry ice or baking soda and vinegar just have a dripper drip vinegar into the baking soda and there you go but don't see how you would control it as much

if you use the yeast, sugar and water method it works great. honestly if you just poke a small hole the co2 stays built up in the 2 liter bottle and spews out at the rate of the hole. so bigger hole = bigger output. where as little hole = little output that last 4-5 days in my case. just take a knife and make a slit on the top of the cap try and make a little x and you should be perfect for co2 delivery...

it works for me hope it works for you..

or dry ice just a little bit per day 1lbs would last about 3-4 days

but remember break off little chunks and toss them in the plants atmosphere don't give the 1 lbs at one time
