Authenticity of clones/seeds

Are we sure what we're buying? I bought a clone they sold as "Ice Berry", I went home and looked it up and it said, Ice Berry, also known as White Berry. It got me thinking.... Are my plants really what I think I bought? Is Mr. Sunshine's Purple OG the same genetic makeup as mine? Probably, we bought it from the same Dispensary. ;-) But, does Fresno Farmer's seed of Purple OG have the same genetic makeup of my clone? Variations on a theme? (FF, you popped into my mind...sorry to " use" you...)
Isn't every pollinated seed going to have slight differences even if it has the same parents? They do in roses.
So far every clone I've bought, grown and harvested have been stellar, 10 more to go. I'm just unsure of whom I'm really growing and should I care?

I'm not saying they are defrauding us on purpose but because there isn't any way for them or us to be certain of what we are growing. I can tell the leaves on some of the Sativa's look different from some of the Indica's.
Ordering a regular flowering seed and getting sent an auto flowering seed is an accident. Imvho. ;-)

I don't believe what I am reading here pertaining to your remark. Not real sure of which am I mostly blown away by : your statement of why should one care......?....., or by the number of 33 members who said that they liked your remark.... It's shocking and pathetically sad.

Mr. S'Manta, you are absolutely right, that they're companies that are defrauding us on purpose. I guess bf80255 won't care if he or she walks into a department to buy a pair of expensive quality walking shoes for medical purposes and was sold a fly by night cheap brand. This can be for anything that you buy, so why is cannabis any different.....?.....So it's OK to expect to pay $33.59 for a single 1000L x Diesel seed but instead they send you a $5.25 Eight Miles High. YA right!

Where did your values go ? Why do so many people shy away from buying items over the internet which can be found much cheaper then going to a store and physically touching your product. Some items, such as pot seeds, we don't have that luxury and have to rely on the honesty of the seller. Why do you think ( even here on Rollitup ) and numerous links ( Amazon / Ebay/ etc.) show comments from consumers on they past experience of sellers......?..... because we care and give a shit not to be ripped off, either in a store or buy the net.

Not to mention If your wanting a strain for indoors or outdoors. The type of high for whatever medical purpose, Short or tall if your doing a stealth grow and on and on.......
So please stop and don't insult the weed consuming population of good people. Your remark is totally embarrassing to all of us as well as to of all the douchebags that gave you a "Like"..............

you never know, especially with clones, that what you think you're getting, is actually what you're getting.. even reputable places get clones mixed up from time to time... and the not so reputable places will sell you x even though it's y.. you might walk in asking for fruity pebbles og, and they say, oh yeah, sure, we've got that clone,brb.. run in the back, rip out the tag that says blue dream, right one that says fruity pebbles og, and sell them to you... they way they look at is, how are you ever going to know? at best, it might take you 3 months grow time, only to finally smoke the bud and say, well, shit, this fruity pebbles og tastes and awful lot like girl scout cookies.. what are you really going to do at that point?
buying seeds, if you buy from a reputable bank, and order in breeders packs, you're pretty much guaranteed to get what you paid for.. if you buy singles, mistakes can and i'm sure do, happen from time to time.. but i'd think it'd be an honest mistake and not someone out to rip you off like they might when buying clones.
i want to know what i'm growing ahead of time. .not really into surprises, at all, that's why i stay away from bag seeds and mixed packs that are truely mixed and not labeled x, y and z..

Look closer. There was only one member that liked his comment , a member with the number 33 in his name.

With that said, I have seen his grows and he is no douchebag.. He is someone that understood where he was coming from. Have you need duped? Is the selling process for seeds not up to par for you. Are you upset that. It everyone is feeling like they are at all getting ripped off...

If a bank sends you a wrong seed, tell them. They are not in business to lie. Although dealing with a product that has the same look of everything on your shelves, mistakes may be made. They are more than willing to make right by there wrong doings. Especially when they resend a seized order.

Have faith bro. They are not trying to dupe you.

i can't speak for that person obviously, but i know myself, i won't grow a seed if i don't know what it is... this all stems from my first grow where i thought i was growing mk ultra, and it ended up being super skunk.. i dropped the seeds on the floor and got them mixed up.. long story short, it was my first grow, and i didn't have a carbon filter yet, and that super skunk was loud, and i mean, loud loud loud... now i want to know what i'm growing..
also could be said about how big a plant will get.. if you only have a small space, i'm pretty sure you don't want to be growing a full on sativa that's going to get huge, and take forever for flowering to finish..
flowering times could also be another big reason.. not many people are willing to grow a strain that could potentially take 14 plus weeks to flower..
there's tons of reasons why someone would want to know what they're growing, other then for breeding purposes..

okay bud, you misunderstood op's question hes asking if someone already has X dank strain (clone only) and it looks smells tastes the same and gets u just as high then does it matter that they arent exact genetic copies? no the answer is no unless you are breeding in which case knowing the plants genetic history is highly advantageous. im sorry if i came off as brash or too blunt with my reply it was never my intention.

Because when I pay for something I expect to get what I paid for.

Also because different strains will treat medical problems differently. I need very potent Indicas, there aren't too many Sativa dominant strains that will have any medicinal benefit for me. So, if I order some Bubba Kush seeds, I better not get a Haze.

If you drop 100+ for some Rare Dankness, I don't think you'd be happy to get a pack of Doggies Nuts instead.

That's not how I read his post which has many questions. The main ones I saw were, "are my plants really what I bought" and "should I care?" also asks about genetic make up of clones and seeds.

I didn't see anything about the plants looking/smelling or tasting the same.
