Thunder makes a quality ballast that warrantied for 5 years. Its a fine piece of equipment.
Oh come on, bulbs don't become unusable after a single flowering or depreciate so much that yields decrease. That sounds like a waste of money.Btw ditch the lumen meter and start replacing bulbs after flowering cycle, plants dont see light they use the radiation contained in the light ie PAR
I got yaI didnt say un useable, but if you veg then flower with the same bulb it should be replaced every grow. If you veg and flower under different bulbs then after flower you move the bulb to veg with and use a new one for flower.
To me a new bulb is cheap 1000w ushio is only 75-80 locally phillips are even cheaper.
Quite a few people run 400w bulbs in magnetic 600w ballasts and simply replace the bulb every grow
