No I don't believe it tastes rusty but it does not taste as smooth per say as after I run it through my filter. Would nitrogen be the only way to nutrient burn a plant? I thought an excess of any nutrient. Be it N P or K

You do have have to be aware of your total ppms when using salt based nutrients. If you get your rez ppms significantly higher than your ppms in your plant, a reverse osmosis occurs and your plant gets sucked dry. Because nitrogen is present in every vegging nutrient program, you tend to see the nitrogen symptoms first. You are no where near territory where I would think this would happen.

Watch you water temps optimsl range should be 65-70. I have a mixing container that I ph out with the nutes, and wait for it to stabilize for 10-20 mins or so. Then pump it into my rez. Usually I ph to 5.4 and it will jump up to 6.1 over night. During veg you want it inbetween 6.0 to 6.3 for more available nitrogen. Keep your ppms lower than 250 till the 5th 6th set of leaves then increase.

Okay cool thank you everyone for your input I feel more optimistic. My roots are out of the net pot but not as much as I would like. I will post a picture in the morning so you can see overall root growth. My res temps is a whole different situation I try my best to keep it as cool as possible but its hard to do and I simply can't afford to purchase some type of chiller I use water bottles although I'm weary as people say it kills root growth.

All you need on your water level is for the roots to get misted by the poppin bubbles. You could do just fine with 2 airstones.

3 gallons of water max per 5 gallon bucket. During heavy flower fruit when you got a huge root mass, 2, 2.5 gallons tops. Always keep 2 gallons of water in the fridge a top off accordingly.

You speak the truth. When I was growing hydro it was in a basement furnace room that had a dirt floor. I buried my rez half way down in the dirt and it was the perfect poor man's chiller. Don't know if you are lucky enough to have a dirt floor!

make a home made rez chiller , water heater drain pump , some tubinglooped several times going thru a cooleror bucket with room temp water , if your room aint like 80deg . just a thought

Okay I only put the 4 in there because I thought more couldn't hurt and seeing as how my res temps weren't optimal the extra air would help with maintaining a significant amount of D.O.

Nope, I run an F&D system now. All I did was get a big ass coleman 5 dy cooler and covert it to a res. Works great.

There's the answer to your res temps. Get you a cheap cooler and use it for your res, you could either cut hole in top for ypur net pot to sit in.

This thread I read, a grower got 20 feet of 1/2 copper tubing, dug a 5 foot hole wrapped Iit around 5 gallon buckets for a spiral, buried the tubing, and recirculated the rez through the ground. I think he called it a static chiller. Im on a slab so id half to cut the concrete. Not up to doing that.

I can try to make the chiller although to be honest I'm not much of a handy man nor do I fully understand your instructions but I will do some research into it and if I can afford the parts I will definitely give it a go.
