Even Gavita will tell you plasma is meant to supplement hps, plasma has this huge hole in the spectrum. Wait for sulphur plasma.
Gavita's LEP emitter isn't user replaceable and is rated for a lot of hours if I remember right.
Rocket emitter calls for replacing every 9 months or so at 110 bux or so. No thanks.
On the other hand, being a hardcore HID fanboi for so long I recently purchased 6 Onyx (4 bloom and 2 veg ) LED panels from rapidled.
I'm pleased with the results.

I'd say a single CMH with a pair of RW-150's if you have the power/budget.

Or for the money you're looking at spending, you could make a hell of a cob array

Gavita is referring to their own specific plasma lights when they say that. Not plasma lights in general. I am not saying the Rocket Plasma will flower any better than the Gavita plasma lamps but in theory it should. Considering the color temperature for the Rocket Plasma is suppose to be around 3000k ( http://www.rocketplasma.com/rocketspecs/ ) and the lowest color temperature Gavita has I believe is around 5600k for the 41.02 emitter ( http://www.gavita-holland.com/index.php/products/gavita-light-emitting-plasma/item/gavita-pro-300-lep-ac-eu.html ). I can't seem to find a color temp for the 41.01 emitter at the moment.

"So in conclusion:
- We recommend the 01 version as most efficient to complement HPS light during the generative phase and suitable for short vegetative cycles
- The 02 version is also suitable for a combination with HPS, but has a better quality than the 01 for vegetative development, so it is best utilized in a pure vegetative environment or for sunlight simulations
- Use one Gavita Pro 300 LEP in combination with a maximum of 1200W HPS lighting for a better color spectrum which results in healthier plants, higher quality and a better yielding crop"

There is some good info in these Gavita pdfs about spectrum and plants. Check them out if you have the time http://www.gavita-holland.com/helpdesk/knowledgebase.php?article=11

Lately, I have read quite a bit on these plasma grow lights and I feel it is necessary to point out that the plasma technology used for the Gavita and Rocket Plasma are two different designs from two different manufacturers. So the end product is a bit different in regards to the spectrum.

Topanga supplies Rocket Plasma - http://www.topangatech.com/

Luxim supplies Gavita and most of the other plasma grow lights - http://www.luxim.com/products/grow-lighting

It is true that the Rocket Plasma bulb needs to be replaced after 9 months but. That isn't because the bulb stops working. Its because the red spectrum dissipates after that time period. The bulb will still work. It just loses its ability to put out the mostly red spectrum it had from the start and it can be replaced with new one. If I end up getting one I just might use my old bulbs for the vegetative phase.

Good info I'd never thought of because I thought they were using the same emitters as Gavita.
I was wondering how gavita emitter isn't user changeable yet its lifespan was so long.

Nice find, I was under the impression that the Rocket Plasma was the only horticultural plasma using the Topanga technology but. This Alphalite plasma appears to be using it as well.

I believe both the Rocket Plasma and Alphalite are using the APL400-4000A "Back-fed" from Topanga shown here http://www.topangatech.com/products/

Alphalite Plasma product info- http://www.alphalite.com/US/brochure/AlphaliteEngWeb.pdf (scroll to the bottom for info on the horticulture light)

That 110 dollar replacement emitter every 9 months I just don't like.
Probably see lots of new brands pop up. It's time to grow some shit.

Yeah, I hear you on that. Its actually 4500hr-5000hr before the mostly red spectrum starts to dissipate I believe. Not really any different from changing out your HID bulb every other grow or so though.
