Springtails...

So I JUST noticed I have springtails floating around in my waste resevior. I'm harvesting all my plants in the next 7-14 days, so it's too late to do anything about them now and they haven't caused ANY issues what so ever-my crop looks great and my yield is going to be better then expected considering the strains I'm running.

My question is this...

How many people have experience/are dealing with these buggers? Apparently they don't hurt the plants, they are detrivores and eat decaying matter(not fresh, healthy roots) and may even be beneficial. I have heard that they eat beneficials though, so they may be a nusiance by eating the expensive benes we purposely give our plants.

So, anyone who can shed some wisdom or has dealt with them in the past, please share your experiences. Any and all feedback is appreciated!!!

HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GREAT SUMMER AND GOOD LUCK IN THE GARDEN!!!

I had the them for ages. Couldn't seem to get rid of them but I wernt too fused bout them cos I they didn't seem to do ne harm. I changed my coco from canna coco plus to canna coco natural because the guy at my local shop convinced me it was better. Thats when i and my mate who switched at the same time as me started getting them. We both recently switched to back to canna coco plus and I haven't seen one since. I'm sure they were comin in the coco. Wat coco u usin?

I'm using royal gold coco, which isn't cheap. Next round I am using that new GS3 coco/growstones mix

I've never had a problem, even with very high populations. I have noticed that drainage was affected after a few months but by then veg was over and flower was almost done. I've read that they are excellent indicators of a healthy, organic system. They will spread mycorrizhae spores through the rhizosphere as well as contributing to the breakdown of decaying vegetation too. I've brought their numbers down using hydrogen peroxide as well but they always come back. I've since learned to live with them and accept them as partners in organics. Insect manure anyone? :peace: Give the little guys a dusting of powdered spores and send them on their way. ;)
