Also if he's just S1'ing the forum cut there will instability for quite some time. It's not an easy fix, or even necessarily possible short of reverse breeding which he definitely does not do. He could hybridize it, but it'd still probably be unstable. And by that I mean great variation. The forum cut has herm genetics in it as well, I'm pretty certain of this based on what I've read/seen about it. OFC I haven't tried it myself or made seeds with it so I can't be certain until I ever do that which is unlikely because I'm not that big on the flavor of the month usually.

and also what you consider to be a finished plant.. i see tons of people say oh yeah, chop that plant, and i'm thinking to myself, wtf are they talking about, i'd give that plant at least another x amount of days or w/e..
I try and chop at 9 weeks on the seed run to get an idea. When I run the clone, I try to not get anything before 10+ weeks if possible.

About 7 days to Michigan....pretty fast.
Wow, that is fast. I have a couple more questions for ya about the cookies..

Did yours purple up like the forum cut does?

And being such a hyped up strain why do you think he chose to give 10 fems for 150?

..not complaining or anything just thought it'd might be the reason of stability with this particular strain...

Gotta get them facts ;)

Yes it did purple up ...quite a bit.

It could be a stability issue but the first thing that came to my mind was the plant probably produces a lot of seeds. I know Doc has said the G13 was so expensive because it did not produce a large amount of seeds on a huge plant and it cost him more to make them. Same for his Bubba Katsu. But, if it has stability issues, Doc would want to make sure you had the best chance of getting that "keeper" and would make bigger packs.
I know the Bubba Katsu has viability issues and thats why Doc went form 2 seeds to 4 in a pack....to make sure you get a good one.

Ohhhh. I never would've thought that. Makes sense, if it costs more for you that will ultimately end up on the customer in some way shape or form.

How many did you run?
Any herms?

Do you happen to have a report on it or any pics?

Just wondering as I can stop asking you so many questions ;)

That doesn't make sense. Maybe you can fill me in on this as I know next to nothing about breeding ....

Whats costs are involved? The dirt for the plants, a few lights over head, etc? If he had a strain that produced say 500 seeds on a plant as opposed to 1,000, how much more would it actually cost the breeder to grow a few extra plants?

I could be wrong (corect me if I am), but that just sounds like a weak excuse to charge more for seeds.

Doc gave me a test pack before they were ready for sale.
I ran two to start but I neglected them and killed one of them. The one that i killed had some nanners on it when i took a close look so no big loss. Ive been having a lot of troubles lately and my entire garden has suffered but hopefully im getting back on track now.

Heres the report...

iM not a breeder nor do i have any inside information from Doc but from what i gather there could be a lot of costs involved. Ive heard many internet rumors about the price Doc paid for the g13...anywhere from $5000 to $25000 but ive never asked Doc to confirm it so i dont know for sure.
Other then that, if he grows a 4LB plant of Chemdawg that produces say 10,000 seeds and a 4lb G13 that produces only 1000 seeds then the G13 costs 10 times more to produce. With the Bubba Katsu, he has said that its hard to even get a "handful" of seeds that are viable. So the costs of maintenance of a strain that hardly produces any good seeds and the time involved to just keep it alive could be considerable.

If he has finite space as Im sure he does, then he would have to figure a cost for the space required from one plant to the next and act accordingly.

Having said all that, i can't really say that you're wrong because I just don't have any real idea of the costs of maintaining a 30-40 strain lineup as he does.
He could be lying but Ive personally never caught him in a lie and pretty much everything he has told me has come true in the end so i would guess he's telling the truth.

While we all have certain price points of what is and what isn't ridiculous, if he hasn't made his money back on that kind of investment would either mean he is incredibly incompetent at ramping up production, or made a bad bet. Still think I'd pick up his gear but not at a $100 a bean, that is simply asinine. perhaps breeders have bad business skills or he's great at having to believe it's worth that. I know from grows most are great plants, buy I've seen some weird mutants and certainly not keepers by my standards linked from his site

That's a good point, and something I didn't think of. It doesn't technically "cost" him much more to grow a few more plants, but those plants do take up space that other more productive plants could be occupying ..... so in that sense it is costing him money.

There are others who do bubba S1's and don't have issues with the number of seeds they get. I'm sure his lines are good, but I don't think there is any doubt he overcharges. Bubba of course isn't a heavy yielder so it won't produce massive numbers of seeds or buds compared to some others.

Verdant Green does Bubba S1's and they don't cost very much. Yet I'm sure his margin is significantly higher than if he were producing buds, and the margin for those is pretty good...

His distributes all of his gear himself too, doesn't he? No middle man skimming money. He's got a nice business going. I'd be curious to know what kind of coin he pulls in every year. I'm sure he's done well for himself

I see where you're coming from.. But at the end of the day it's all about personal choice. Just because you don't think it's right to pay 100$ a seed doesn't make it not right. Dude can charge whatever he wants, you don't like it don't buy it. SIMPLE.

I was trying to simply get some info on the guys' Cindy 99, could care less of your opinion on his prices, breeding practice, business skills or whatever you can come up with to bash him on.. if you have no experience with his gear please butt out,

Or better yet make your own thread and stop jacking mine..

...But If you do have experience, please share because I'm all ears at this point..

it's participation not jacking. Also you "couldn't care less". And if I didn't like you, I'd probably tell ya to go fuck yourself with that comment. I've smoked his gear, I like his gear, I'd buy his gear if it were more reasonably priced. I bet his Cindy is pretty good. I grew some bag beans of his iranian, but I didn't know the pollen donor, was a shame as all of them were straight intersexed. Can't blame DGT though.ETA I really enjoyed his iranian g13 it was top notch

I have his Iranian Haze and Iranian OG in my tent right now. Vigorous, lookin not bad. Some frost starting to develop on the OG. I didn't pay for these seeds.

Nice healthy seeds etc. C99 is a pretty stable line. Personally I'd go with other sources whose prices are a lot better.
Is his Iranian line automatic?
