God tempted them. Only mankind has free will, so the will of Satan or "the serpent" would have been God's will. This means God is the Devil.

That is biblical. Place no other evil entity above God. He is to be the epitome of both good and evil. Most do not remember the evil part and place someone above God.

First off Satan is a he, he was a angel, although satan can turn into many things women,balls of light, shadow, man, invisible spirit that tempts your mind ect... I am aware of the depiction of satan as a women especially in a red dress, but this is the truth.
Now satan came to eve as a serpent however a serpent isn't what we know as a snake in modern culture. This is a serpent from THE HOLY BIBLE

Now After satan used this creature and Eve fell for it's lies and evil instead of THE ALMIGHTY GOD's Laws, GOD completely changed the beast from what we know as a "Dragon" which could fly had legs, talks, and looks completely more remarkable then the "snake" we see now.
Google some pics for yourself, although I'm sure many of you play Skyrim but, these games which have so called "fake" demon worship, is actually demon worship. I will do a post on that soon.
So from these verses in THE HOLY BIBLE we know
1. Serpents were more cunning then any other creature GOD made. Genesis Chapter 3:1
2. They weren't on there belly's - Had wings and legs
3. Because snakes aren't the most cunning creatures now we see GOD has completely changed them. From a extremely smart and beautiful flying creation to literally the creepiest and a symbol of treachery throughout the World.
4. Serpents aka Dragons could talk before being demoted to nothing more then a pest with a tiny ignorant brain. I refer to point 1,2,3 and because in my opinion Eve would of been VERY suspicious if some creature started talking to her, when no other creatures have this ability.
So GOD changed the appearance of the Serpent so it would no longer be something that the Women found appealing.

How does googling pics show us what Satan looks like? You know those are just drawings from peoples imagination, right? As in 'not real'.... right?
Just because it's written in the bible doesn't make it so. What you know and what you think you know are two very different things.

Interesting topic, many interesting ideas. So for the sake of it lets step back a minute (Gods perception of Time) He It She what ever... created. before there was just void, Just All powerful God with nothing to do except create the biggest biological and the resulting social experiment afterwards.
If you choose to believe in the Bible, a history book containing many parables and life lessons, as transcribed by men working for the church, written by men that were instructed by faith and belief, that were often illiterate and actual stories recorded by other men, we would begin to see a series of possible errors and misinterpretations.
The Bible, not a biography of God, but more a historical inspired reference about men of this world believing in something so strong, that many now believe it came from a supernatural source.

So really, define serpent, define snake, but the lesson to be taught as we see the results of genetically enhanced food, animals, and humans, created by humans playing into this huge social experiment; is how much should we understand, before trying to acquire more knowledge, and creating a life where our brains outweighed our brawn. Too smart for our own good. establishing beliefs that are off the charts in what is considered good or evil. We all have our own moral standards which may be evil in the eyes of those we see as evil.
If the Bible is factual in every way, All things are part of God, created by God, the devil can not exist without God, hence determining the punishment, God can not effectively punish God's creation without destroying something in the process.

i think it shows indication that they had a decent grasp of human nature and the human condition, even without all the technology and intellect that has since developed. Doesn't mean the main characters are accurately represented though.
And there's one contradiction i'd like to point out: the lesson: "how much we should understand, before acquiring more knowledge and/or attempting to apply it," versus the statement "creating a life where our brains outweighed our brawn."
I like the former part of that lesson... understanding the power we wield, and knowing how to appropriately use it... but that doesn't seem compatible with the apparently contradictory notion that we should not be emphatically intellectual. If anything, the lesson is that we need to think More, not Less. But at the same time, we shouldn't just disregard the physical side of human nature, or we'll become woefully imbalanced, and have a skewed approach to understanding the powers we discover, combined with the physical inability to withstand wielding them appropriately. Lacking the physical robustness to withstand the pressures of wielding advanced power, and/or having a skewed interpretation of those powers... seems like a recipe for disaster. And if we look around, we can definitely see indications that disastrous conditions have indeed resulted, though obviously not Only from those aforementioned causes. ^^
