Do Not Buy Feminized Seed!

if the " keeper strain " that the breeder is to " lazy " to stabilize
is used to make a fem and it has a hermi trait to start with and it is then bred with a clone of itself which also carries the hermi trait ( seeing how its a clone and all )
then you are further locking in the hermi trait
the FEM process has little to do with the hermi trait expressing itself its lazy breeders / greedy or just plain shotty genetics its like saying the GUN robbed the grocery store i was just standing there holding it

its the BREEDERS that are causing hermi's not the fact it was a fem

Yeap, I was taught how to make fem seeds by a guy who'd been doing this for 30+ years himself. He taught me to take a "good looking plant", and then beat the living hell out of it, over prune it, bounce it's lights all around, do everything possible to make it promote the hermie trait to come out.Take about 2 - 3 months to force it to hermie, IF it doesn't, you have a candidate for self feminizing. AT which point you take giberillic acid or colloidal silver and spray a branch or two, and wait.

On top of that, you folks are arguing over the stupidest shit...

You want to blame the breeders for being lazy or this or that or whatever else.. The issue is, YES there are some breeders out there that are lazy and don't want to do the work...

On the other hand, there are breeders out there that simply made the mistake of not allowing enough time to pass to allow the hermie trait to come out, while they were bouncing the lights around and whatever else, trying to get the genetic to come out.(it can take up to 6 months to bring out a hermie genetic, and even then it's not 100%) It's just that the longer you have to take to bring fourth the genetic, the chances of it hermaphroditing out later on in subsequent propagations is even that much further diminished.

IT's NOT PERFECT SCIENCE.

So stop sitting here acting like it is, and that every breeder or seed dealer is out to rip you off, or is to lazy to do the fucking work.

I personally don't even like the topic of this thread, NO one should be telling someone else what to buy or not. If I want to buy feminized seed, I damn sure will..

 there are reputable breeders
but the other 90% is fly by night
and could careless if you have problems with their genetics because by the time you have a room full of bird seed
they have already faded out of the picture

I wouldn't even put a statistic on it.. 90%.... I mean realistically it's not the case.

Eventually capitalism wins out, and disreputable dealers get put out of business. People stop buying shitty genetics.

Breeders only make $ from seeds due to supply and demand. If everyone could be bothered breed their own you would be buying bags of hundreds of seeds for a few bucks, just like any other kitchen seeds!

Also on top of that... Many people are taking the term "Feminized" to be literal...

Some breeders use there term "feminized" to denote that their seeds come from selfed female plants, meaning that all generated seeds will produce either female, or hermaphrodites...

NO males. IE; all seeds are FEMINIZED.

was just a number i pulled out of my ass

There would be no sense in buying that much seed, sorry. You can't grow BAGS full of seed or fields full of weed, yet. Ya'll want to make up false dilemma's to support animosities towards dealers and breeders... whatever, life is to short to continuously find fault with what other people do and get your panties in a twist.

whats your experience with male hermies ?

Uh.. "male hermi" ??

Plants can't be "Male hermie"

They can be female, male, or hermaphrodite.

A selfed female won't throw off males. it will only throw off females and hermi's, hence why the seed is called "Feminized".

A male plant can't be a female... nor can it be a hermaphrodite...

Females can be hermaphrodite or female... no other option.

In other words, a male plant can't develop female parts, it has to be a female that develops HERMAPHRODITE parts.

Get it??

IT's not throwing off Male parts, its throwing off HERMAPHRODITE parts.

Try as hard as you like, you will never get a male to become a "hermaphrodite" like a female.

Unlike females... who will become hermies if they have that trait, if stressed enough to produce it...

The best thing to do is study plants interactivity in the wild.

Males throw off pollen at end of life to propagate off spring... Male pollen can spread far and wide... ensuring to pollinate any females, from MILES AND MILES away... IT is why male plants carry so much pollen. In California during the 80's and 90's air samples that were taken showed that marijuana pollen was the highest found pollen in the samples... Which shows just how much pollen is held by a single male plant. The government, even, was considering releasing hermaphrodite pollen that had sub par THC levels into the air to ruin every bodies outdoors grows in California.

The point of this is to show how far male pollen can travel to ensure it's own survival.

When no males are available, females do it themselves, if the environment lends itself to stress factors that allow the hermie genetic to come out to propagate.

They're not males, they are hermaprodites that are showing majority male traits, its a female calyx with a MALE flowering coming out of it..

the female flower grew first, and then shot out the male nodules.

but if that were the case wouldnt the offspring be female ?

A hermie plant with mostly male parts would still be considered "Feminzed" because it still has female parts.

The best thing to do, is ask the seed dealer themselves how they make their feminized seed, if they say "I don't know", you can probably be rest assured that you're going to end up with hermies.

the other way is to seek out word of mouth from postings like on this thread to find out which dealers are making "good seed".
