They can preflower anytime they are mature and healthy enough to.
Some strains preflower under 24 hours of light.
But the stretch usually starts late july and you start seeing actual buds in august sometime.
If you cut your supplemental lighting now they will flower early and stay in flower since days are getting shorter. Early harvest wont hurt ya.
