This was taken a week ago. And I checked this morning and it's spread all over my plants. And I have a dead leaf now. I'm not sure if it's a bug issue or nutes. Since guy above is also growing white widow I thought to post here. I'm also new at this. My plants are huge over four feet since may 13. Outdoors. Have blood and bone meal. Worm castings. Since I planted them I have only feed twice. This only happened about 3 weeks ago maybe and it's getting worse. No idea what to do.

A young plant in organic soil shouldn't need to be fed. Your problem is most likely from over watering or poor drainage and heat. You were too deep in that cup also. In organic soil if your plant is hungry all you need to do is transplant when they're this small...
She may need a minute to recover...if you start pouring nutes on her you may end up with bigger problems...

Well an update on my yellow leaves....There Baaack!
So the basics

  • Planted seedling 5 wk ago
  • Growing under cfl with 2, 23 w 5000k above and 4, 23 w 2700 above but further out on the light bar
  • temps around 75 F with 35 to40 % humidity.
  • 18/6 light cycle.
  • growing in Black Gold Organic Seedling mix which has earthworm castings, sphagnum moss and pearlite.
  • Repotted adding more soil in cup 2 wks ago. Slightly developed root system and dry. They perked up but started to show more stress a couple of days ago
  • watering every 6 to 7 days PH @ 6.5
  • ffocean forest neuts 1/8 strength every other watering. Most recent watering yesterday with neuts, didnt seem to perk them up
Im thinking of repotting into 3 gal pots with Coast of Main soil, organic, peat moss, compost PH at 5.5.

Pictures show the yellowing leaves. The first pic the yellowing is moving up to the next set of leaves. Im thinking the cups are too small and the roots need more room. Also, I wouldnt think neuts at 1/8 strength could cause this but the plants look small for 5 weeks old and have never had any growth spurt. WTF am i doing wrong. In my garden I cant kill the weeds...in my closet i cant grow

Any suggestions are much appreciated

Thanks all

Should probably transplant and stop giving nutes...your organic soil will feed her :)

So even 6 days between watering might be to much at this stage? They defiantly seem stunted for 5 weeks old. So Ill stop the neuts until they start to spurt up. Ill transplant tomorrow to larger pots and ill stretch the watering out more and give you updates.

Thanks
For the help.

was thinking about what you said shouldnt be giving a small plant a full weeks water. When i water i give them a few slow waters until i get runoff. 4 holes and one in of drainage rock.

Should I water them with less water but more often?

Transplant to bigger pots...but not too big. You want to leave yourself room for multiple transplants...every couple of weeks or so until you flower. That way when your plant gets hungry a simple transplant will do the trick and it also helps to build a good root system

As far as the watering...water less (much less) but more frequently...your letting them get too dry then your drowning them...

Yup.

Try water 10% of the volume of the pot. I've had good success so far. Also water the edges of the pot rather than the middle. This forces the roots to search out the moisture.

Just finished transplanting into bigger pots twice as large. Rootball was firm, dampish, roots around the outside. I would think roots with no place to go would stunt her growth.

The new soil was also dampish so considering they were over watered I didnt water them. Should I wait a day or 2 before watering or just water right after the transplant.

Thanks

Your recommendations were right on the mark, just what the green thumb needed. I repotted to larger post into FFOF with no additional water 12 days ago. Gave them some light water a bit over a week ago and they really liked the added soil and larger pots. They grew quite well ovet the past week. as you can see by todays pics

I watered again today as they were dry. Im thinking ahead to the next week or 2 and have some questions
  • Im thinking about repotting to their final 3 gal pots at the end of the week. Will this be too soon to repot?
  • I have 5 ft height to grow up in
  • Fimming or topping. I think they will need this soon, what are the pros and cons of each?.
  • Can I Fim the top growth and top each branch?
  • Do I want to top/fim before or after repot
  • When I repot I also plan on adding 3 bamboo supports
I am going away for a week in mid Sept so I think I will need to chop then and hang while im away. Im growing 00kush and white widow. How many weeks will I need to have them in flower? That will determine when I need to flip to 12/12.

I was getting worried when they started to yellow and seemed to just be getting worse. It was the combination of to small a pot and to much water just as you said. It was amazing how quickly they recovered.

Thanks for the great advice. It appears I can actually grow a weed!!! :)

Save the "final" transplant for right before you flip
I would top her now...then top the new growth...but that's just my preference...no rules there
Forget about chopping by mid September...you need a minimum of 8 weeks flowering for most strains...
Your looking at October harvest more than likely  And that is if you flipped now

Hell yeah top those girls they will love it as they look Indica dom. And like MD914 said you probably won't harvest in mid September although you might be able to late sep-early oct. I would forget about the wait and just veg them for another month. You will be glad you did trust me!!!
