The White House uses the word at the 1:14 spot on the short video.... It doesn't matter which way you lean politically... it is not tranquil in or has it ever been tranquil in the middle east.... Maybe the word Tranquil has a different meaning to others....

When Obama says the world is more tranquil, he is right.

There are less conflicts per capita than ever before.

This does not suit the Press. So they constantly make up tragedy and horror out of proportion.

There is no Immigration Crisis, for example.
There was no Heath Care crisis.
There was no Crisis in Iraq or 'stan.

There was a collapse of the world Credit Market
We are now paying for screwing over China
There is a new Islamist State we will fight for generations like in Nam.

(let's not talk about real problems, however)

No, let the press say, (in support of the DEMS) this fall will be about Immigration.

Sure. It won't about dead Ambassadors, IRS and EPA gone wild, suing the Presidency, etc.

But it will be all about the failure of the Congress...if the Press has their way.

EDIT: how is it there's no "fix" when one group "stalls".

Oh dear, oh my! Such a failure of the thinking.... :) Actually it all still works fine.

It all seems good to me. Don't blame your own troubled lives on the government.

Turn off the News-joke, until you have made yourselves real. ....if you want to.

When one group stall, the fix is, the other group rakes the marbles to their side, Ms. Puppy Eyes.

oh, hah, but there is a fix...

We are supposed to gather our muskets, pitchforks and torches, and storm the white house. lol.

edit: also: those who craved power, found their positions among those to whom we entrusted it... and along the way, bit by bit, they created an illusion in which their incremental adjustments and careful misinterpretations of the language of the founding documents, have become legitimized. This is why there has been so much vehement debate over "constitutional interpretation."

If you look at the document and understand the purpose for which it was created... there is no question about what it is intended to mean. It is meant to preserve the liberty of the people, and limit the power, and therefore the potential for the power-hungry to abuse that power, specifically granted to the government. Everything that is not specifically granted to the government, is left in the hands of We The People. That is the intention, and anyone saying otherwise is a power-hungry villain attempting to usurp power to which they are not entitled.

you mean at it's worse.

double speak, you said.
lol, no... i don't speak Orwellian, i merely interpret and translate it. When they say "tranquility," they really mean something quite contrary. They're just saying "tranquil" as suggestive manipulation. They're using "doublespeak," and i'm clarifying it with... uhh... singlespeak. i guess.

How about just get off dull ass and vote? Most will not this fall.
voting doesn't work when the acceptable choices are not allowed on the ballot, and when both sides are controlled by the same puppeteers.

"if voting worked, we wouldn't be allowed to do it."

World Becoming Less Violent: Despite Global Conflict, Statistics Show Violence In Steady Decline
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/22/world-less-violent-stats_n_1026723.html

In his new book, "The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined," Pinker makes the case that a smarter, more educated world is becoming more peaceful in several statistically significant ways. His findings are based on peer-reviewed studies published by other academics using examinations of graveyards, surveys and historical records:

_ The number of people killed in battle – calculated per 100,000 population – has dropped by 1,000-fold over the centuries as civilizations evolved. Before there were organized countries, battles killed on average more than 500 out of every 100,000 people. In 19th century France, it was 70. In the 20th century with two world wars and a few genocides, it was 60. Now battlefield deaths are down to three-tenths of a person per 100,000.
_ The rate of genocide deaths per world population was 1,400 times higher in 1942 than in 2008.
_ There were fewer than 20 democracies in 1946. Now there are close to 100. Meanwhile, the number of authoritarian countries has dropped from a high of almost 90 in 1976 to about 25 now.
-------------------------
Tranquil means exactly that. It is much more peaceful now than ever.

The Royal Navy used to say they were in charge of the 'sense of shame." Without shame there is no guilt.

So, when was the last time an insurrection group had to pull Twitter posts in shame?

Never until now.

The world craves peace. The world in in instant communication down to the children around and behind, their parents ideas. We will have peace.
