does a 11/13 light for flower produce more hormones in the dark period to force more flower? Any people with experience with this technique please feel free

Tried it start to finish the results were not noticed.
I have grown the strain repetedly so I would notice.
So in my case.
myth busted.

However dj short swears it brings out phenotypical traits you would not see with 12/12.

My varities?
Not so much.

So do you still flower under 11/13? If the difference wasn't noticeable you could save a decent amount on power I'd think.

And thanks for answering from experience. It's much better than parrot talk

No. I just 12/12 out of habit.

I also forgot to mention that my crop appeared to take longer. Not knowing if the light schedule was the contributing factor I cant confirm.

Thanks for the info. I grow outdoors all year so it doesn't affect me. I was just curious

1 hour a day.. for 90-100 days.. saves electricity.. but no noticeable yield reductions or increases.. I noticed 1 strain that was more sativa hybrid.. ended up finishing 1 week early.. but other then that.. no different then 12/12 as long as your lights are new and as close to them as you can get without burning.. 1 hour less light is not going to affect yield...

think about it like this.. outdoors.. a plant can get only 4 hours of direct light.. and then a few hours of less direct light.. and still out yields indoors every day of the week... so If we were to MIMIC outdoor conditions.. we could get our plants to grow more like outdoors.. but that would also mean.. using 4 1000s over a 5x5 area instead of 1 or 2.

I also do 24 hours of dark before switching to flower.. and I stop veg nutes after stretch.. and start flower nutes.. with pk13/14 wen buds are dime sized.. speeds up flowering and allows for bigger nugs.. also during the flush. for me I flush later then most.. so when im flushing swellage has stopped.. and I raise my lights as high as I can.. and ive smelt a difference from raising lights during flush till harvest.. compared to leaving them were they are..

I can only say maybe its because the boiling points on some terpenes are low.. and intense lights seem to boil em right off.. im not positive why it works.. but I know over 10 grower who switched to raising after doing a side by side in 2 diff rooms with same strains. A FREE TRICK OF THE TRADE

I mainly grow landrace sativas so naturally I look for ways to harvest earlier. For my plants I've found below 8hrs of day, hairs receded and buds stopped developing.. ended up harvesting pretty much the same time doing 10-9 hrs as 11 but reduced yield and airy.. at 11 hr's my plants finished 1 week early. But I still harvested at 17 weeks soooo not too noticeable.....I would keep the quality and density up and not rush it
if i let my sats get root bound that speeds flowering by 1-2 weeks and yield is reduced slightly but bag appeal is still there

No plant needs less than 12 to flower, most flower around 14. From my experience hovering closer to the plants threshold gives the best bud

Isn't it really strain dependent? I had a Black Widow that would grow like one big monster cola under 10/14 and I've got a BF Blue Cheese that will only produce real quality at 12/12. I've been fuckin with my times for a while, I'm actually moving the timer from 11/13 to 12/12 as I put in some more indica doms atm, but I find it's best to start at 12/12 and then as time goes on cut the time down. This really works well with sativa/ sat doms, especially if you cool the room a bit at lights out. I find they get superdense doing this but again if you're growing quick flowering indicas don't bother. That's my .02.

Ok botonical brains,, what conclusion can i take from all the Intel you've given,,,, 11/13. Or 12/12
The phytochrome influence which controls flowering with most mutts and indicas is either off or on regarding accumulation. IOW, if you switch to a long day/short night the phytochrome is rendered inactive.

It's the accumulation of phytochrome in cannabis that controls the flowering response. Afghani may need nights of only 10-11 duration while tropical varieties need nights of 12 or 13 hours duration. Many years ago I played games with photoperiods on a wide collection of genetics. I'd reduce/increase the day/night photoperiod and observe the response, and journal.

Caveat - if you reduce the day length too much you'll be negatively affecting photosynthesis which drives yields. Read your plants and adjust.

my last grow were dominate sativa (seeds I had brought back from Mexico), that would not trip at 12/12, so I reduced the light to 11/13, which triggered them to flower within days

I didn't experience any issues with yield or quality...but nothing to compare to, as this was my only time growing this strain

it really is a hit trail and error on different strains isn't it ,, i think its best to go down the middle at 12/12 unless you spend years growing the exact strain , then you can abit of trailing,,,,,thanks people you deserve a brain snooze after that one,

Here's the idea:

13on/11off - Extra hour of light = Extra hour of energy gathering. So, more yield and Longer flower (less grow time).
12on/12off - Standard Flowering Schedule
11on/13off - Extra hour of Dark = Extra hour of growth time. So, Quicker flower and less yield (less energy gathered overall)
