Weed that taste like....

that's kinda retarded.. different nutrients produce different or more or less potent smell and tastes.. a lot of the time when the smell doesn't turn to taste its from too much nutes.. or not dried or cured properly.. or nutes.. I had 1 plant that tasted and smelled like coffee when using BIOCANNA.. but when I did half my room with fox farms with the soluble 3 pack.. and the other bio canna with additives.. the biocanna transferred the smell to taste almost identically .. but when I tried the fox farms.. it brought out such a different terpene profile and even the buds looked different.. people had no clue that it was the eXACT SAME CLONES..

also.. ive found a lot of the sweet skunks.. or long flowering hazes seem to have that citrusy lime taste and smell to them.. I have an original haze that goes 18 weeks flower.. that stinks like orange peels..
sorry, nutes do not change the taste of the bud, why do people think this? Maybe a picture will help you understand.

After looking at this , HOW can you say nutes change the way buds taste? You mean I can feed different nutes and change the way an apple tastes? Bullshit!!!

The only problem wih Chucks arguement is people don't smoke apples.
Some nute brands will without doubt effect potency.
I have a way of getting the 'nute' taste out.

My argument is that buds don't store nutes, they use sugar and starches that are photosynthesized in the leaf.
if you look at that pic I posted and still think nutes makes buds taste different, then you are truly retarded and I will waste no more time on you.

I'm not saying it's the nutes that causes that horrible homegrown taste.
Maybe you should grow some weed Chuck...then you'd know what we are talking about.
Potatoes grown in PEI soil taste way better than the same spud grown in Ontario soil.
So without doubt taste has a lot to do with what the plant takes up.

go put ANY nute in a glass, add some water, let it dry out. now light it on fire. pour out some sugar, light it on fire. now take a taste of each. nuff said!!!
Guess the 60 plants upstairs don't know I am growing them, azzhat.

That's not what this thread is about...
Chernobyl is a common suggestion + probably your best option in seed form.

Do you know why New York pizza tastes better than other pizza? I'll give you a clue, it isn't the nutes.

Nutes make no difference in taste. Taste and smell is genetics plus a proper cure. As long as the plants nutrient needs are met, the source doesn't matter.

I always chuckle to myself seeing the stupid bottles at the grow shop promising smells and the like. A waste of money.

What makes it better? Do all the hundreds of pizza shops in NYC have a secret that's never reached Chicago?

Never mind......I'm making the call to Luigi's for lunch - I'll ask the driver. :eyesmoke:
Drinking Water
New York City drinking water is world-renowned for its quality. Each day, more than 1 billion gallons of fresh, clean water is delivered from large upstate reservoirs—some more than 125 miles from the City—to the taps of nine million customers throughout New York state.

I have spring water that flows out the rocky side of the mountain I live on.
I wouldn't drink it, but I bet it's clean enough to.

i don't know man, I've seen the EXACT same strain (clone only Bluedream) and my "version" smokes/tastes/looks totally different, in fact I've had multiple people accuse me of switching the strain.
Now, granted I have several other variables, I incorporate a metal halide bulb and use only organic ferts, I only feed two to three times during the flowering, as my soil is heavily amended.
the other guys growing the bluledream grow with chemicals and use only HPS lighting.
Literally I've had other growers say mine looks nothing like the clubs, growers on this site. no BS.
But I do see your side, but experience has led me to believe that it's possibly a combination of other factors/variables, but absolutely NO doubt in my mind that the taste and smoke of a strain can most certainly be influenced.

you give the same strain to 10 different growers, you get 10 different looking buds, everything makes a difference, but the nutes don't change the flavor

alright, I gotcha, but if everything makes a difference, why wouldn't that be also true with nutrients? For example I've found that feeding molasses teas during the last 15 days of the flowering cycle makes the herb more harsh (contrary to the "sweet" claims) now, I haven't tried that same theory with adding a potassium heavy chemical nutrient, in place of the molasses, to see if it does the same thing, but all the other micronutrients and such that are present in an organic food like molasses is impossible to replicate with a chemical, so perhaps it's the broad spectrum of organic nutrients being a better "overall" food because of it's variation?
Doesn't matter, I LOVE molasses as a food, but I avoid giving it to my flowering ladies at the end, because of what I noticed.
I've also found that a speck of nitrogen fed throughout the grow makes it a bit smoother...
OK, now granted, i'm not a scientist, no molecular breakdown tests, no fancy analyzers.
But you notice things when you do them for a while. In NO way am I arguing, just saying subtle things make a difference.
And not to start another whole issue, the reason I prefer organics to chemicals is a matter of preference, but I also think it makes a better product at the end.
Same reason why eating vegetables, fruit and a balanced diet is better than eating fast food and relying on a multivitamin to get you your nutrients.
Sure I KNOW we aren't plants, but the analogy still applies.

I do see your point, nutrients won't CHANGE the overall flavor, I got that, you'll NEVER get a fruity jack herer taste out of a skunk, or a hashplant. But my argument is that grown correctly with the right soil/medium and you'll get a VASTLY different end product, including taste. More pronounced and such. a BETTER taste.
Not saying only organics will do this, only that the taste differs greatly sometimes
as to whether its SOLELY because of nutrients, I honestly couldn't tell you for sure
Meh, maybe my argument should have been that nutrients can make a BETTER taste, but the way I see it, better taste ,is a CHANGE of taste...
