69 hours of Darkness...To start flower.

This is really just a continuation of the 5 day Dark thread that was recently throttled because admin here happened to read it from the beginning, not knowing it had mellowed and adults had taken over... Here is the coven, 20 days after the lights were turned on and we started 12/12. Things seemed to have mellowed in the gaining of height. They are still quite thirsty but the buds really seem to be popping. Wish I had a better camera... Watered soon after these were taken so I will follow with a "3 week flower pic" after they drink it all up.

Rest assured...heck I am not even hermie curious.

CofC,

Nothing is wrong with 12/12....
You should probably start here:

https://www.rollitup.org/t/complete-dark-for-5-days-pre-flower.835340/
on my list of things to read today.

i will say prior to reading that 24 and 12 have been tried, tested, and true for decades. i have never had a problem with straight to 12/12 and have witnessed no benefits to a prolonged dark period. so, i'm still and will be a 24/12 guy. good lookin out, i'll read that in a bit! only got today and tomorrow off, then it's another 60 hour grind...

69 hours of dark is def a waste of time. Plants need light to produce, i doubt your plant can even tell the difference between 24 and 69 hrs of darkness. 69hs is just like giving your plants a few day hibernation imo.
If there is no difference to the plant and he just saved 3 days of electricity, didn't he win?

if by saved 3 days of electricity you mean wasted 3 day you are right on. IMO u should just wait 3 days before you germinate your seeds, the result will be the exact same :)

Lost 3days of flower..
I went 24/0 in Veg for over 5 weeks. So I also lost over 10 days of darkness there. Do you think my plant hormone level was the same as someone going 5 weeks at 18/6? Do my "20 day" pictures look like they could not be 23 day pictures? Based on many I have seen right here they could substitute for 30 day pictures...but then I am biased. ;)

gradual build-up is best imo. i spent 'bout a week trying to get a few plants healthier floating at 11 hours of darkness, and all of one strain flowered. if I'd only been growing that strain (papaya from nirvana) i could have ran on 20 hour days.

Looking healthy! Glad to see a continuation of the thread, I thought it was pretty strange it got chopped where it did.
I have to agree....the last thread started rather ugly but did mellow out as bravedave mentions...thus I'm not sure why sunni closed the thread after it had settled down,

this new thread seems to be descending into a bit of a doggy poop pile much like the first one......maybe we need sunni to come to the rescue :)

First, I restarted in this format because it seemed like an easy way to document the grow. Second, I think what Sunni did previously was just fine and probably in-line with her position here. This was not started to rub anyone's face in anything (see, "First"). Third, made it a continuum so those that were following the "grow" knew where to go. Fourth, it was not restarted to continue the discussion on whether the concept is a good or a bad idea although, of course, I found myself caught up in that again a bit. But I am done. At this point the preponderance of the "experience" is that the concept is all wet. I am happy to go with that. There are many things that have gone into my grow and I am convinced that the 3 days dark was not the most influential. So, put away your pikes, and look forward to a successful harvest.
