a new way to grow?

Is it possible to asexually reproduce cannabis by root splitting? By this I mean is it possible to take a bit of weed root, with no vegitation on it, and somehow make a new plant from it? You know, it's kind of the way yard weeds grow. You pull off the top part of it and in like 5 days that damn weed comes back or how unions or potatoes grow. So all I want to know is if the same priciple is possible with marijuana?

If it worked it would be slow, and less efficient than cloning, which doesn't require tearing apart the root ball.

interesting idea though.

look up cloning in the grow faq...
Does grow faq go that in depth with it?

This isn't really toward you Gangja (unless you do it, I just wanna vent)

I understand the idea behind grow faq's and I've learned a whole lot from them but certain things.....possibaly this are to detailed for Faq's. So why do people just pop in to say that?
If it was "hey can you asexually reproduce weed" then yeah look it up, simple. But i haven't seen anything on cloning from a root in the faq's. So why can't people just post when they have something relevant?

I'm with you here, i'd like to know if you could do that too!

Yeah. See i just ripped a tid bit of root off one of my plants. About three inches of thin yet healthy, white roots then transplanted them into a plastic cup with dirt, left a cm of root on the soil, watered it, covered the top with a tranparent lid and wait for the sun to do its work. I figure, if i hadle it well, well who knows, maybe we can get some results...

i'll get some pics going

The only way to evolve is to question the norm and seek new ways to do shit!!! I'm scribed, interested in how this will go!

I bet $20 nothing. Any action?

I think that there must be plants that can and can't do this, and pot is one that can't. Is there a botanist in the house?

I just had a wild idea!

Everybody, I suggest you all experiment with some root and post here with updates and pics on how it goes!

Intresting results...
Its been about 8 days now, guys, and there hasn't been any leaves to come from the root.
However, after taking the root out of the soil to check on it, i noticed that the root HAD grown larger. (I put it back in the soil then, i'm sure it will be alright, i've done it once before during these 8 days and it was fine)
This gives hope that veggitation may be still to come!

I doubt anything is going to happen. Without the vegetation, the plant simply cannot produce enough energy to vegetate.
