I just turned 27 and finally opened up a savings account. Life didn't get comfortable until I turned 25. At 26 I started going to college.
Being broke is awesome, you don't realize it until it pays off though. I went from sleeping in multiple layers with my dog for warmth because I couldn't afford, heat to living in a nice warm place, where I have what rich people commonly know as a "guest" room.

Keep working hun, everything always works out.

On topic though, it's always good to save. Put your money under your bed if you don't trust banks.

Catch a bus ride there and spend a night or two. Having or borrowing a car would obviously be better.

Go around knocking doors and looking for work.

Talk to them and tell them your efforts to come see them. They will be impressed.

You'll likely find better work your first trip.

You can live in an extended stay hotel. Negotiate a better rate. They advertise about $180 per week. If you commit to 3 months they'll probably drop it to 100-130 per week.

If you always do what you always done, you'll always get what you always got.

Where I live it's more expensive to stay in a hotel, than it is to have roommates. If you risk moving away, you need to have enough money to cover at least 3 months worth of expenses, especially if you're looking for a specific job.
If life was as easy as leaving your home, staying at a motel 6, and knocking on doors, there would be a lot less poverty in the world.
