Can switch from 24/0 to 12/12 cause hermies?

I seem to have the curse of the hermaphrodites when it comes to MJ growing. I used to think I had a bad strain with the bag seed I started growing with, so I scraped the hole bag seed project and started fresh with BC Blueberry strain.(non-feminized) I grew two beautiful plants with approximately 100 g on each dry. But again, I found myself picking male flowers off the buds during flower. The end results are nice fat buds with seeds mostly on the lower part of the plants.

My question is as follows, could switching from 24/0 to 12/12 be too much and cause my plants to think the sun is dying hence kicking into hermie mode and that is the reason behind the hemie curse? That being said, last summer, the one clone that I put outside during summer solstice is the only one that hadn't hermied. I think because of the gradual light change outdoors.

FYI, my grow tent has lots of air circulation, air cooled 600W bulb temps stay below 25 celcius and around 50-60% RH. I have a window AC unit for the summer.

Switching to 12/12 will cause flowering, not hermies. Are you positive you don't have light leaks? Sit in your tent with the lights off in the tent and all the lights on in the room. Sit for 15 min so your eyes adjust and make damn sure no light is leaking in.

Why do you veg 24/7? Plants need rest too. I know I would hate to work 24/7 wouldn't you. I think your plants would be a lot happier if you dropped down to 20/4 or better yet 18/6 which is what I veg at. Your power bill will be less too! I found, at least for me, that 24/0 is counterproductive.

I must admit I'm not perticularly fond of 24/0 for veg.

Simply because IME I've found that the dramatic cut in light causes excessive stretching between nodes.

I have ran 24/0 for a while until I sorted out timers etc but I didn't have issues with Hermies etc.

I prefer 18/6 now but I don't have a seperate area for veg any more either.

Going from 24/0 to 12/12 could cause hermies. I've never done it so I can't say for sure. But vegging for 24/0 is foolish. Plants need the dark and they actually do a lot of their growing in the dark. I never exceed 18/6, and I've found I get better less stressed plants when that is reduced. I currently run 16/8. I've even used the gas lantern method (12on/5.5off/1on/5.5off) and the plants veg just fine. Give em' some dark it may cure your nanner problem

Do you find the male parts coming in late flower or early flower? IMO, it would be lightleaks in the tent...I don't think big time growers or breeders worry about 18/6 or anything less and probably just leave it on 24/0 and the switch is not new, people have been growing for years like this. I even put my girl in 12-16ish hours of dark before the switch, but really its all about superstition with something like this. Check your tent like Polo the Don said...sick name lol @polo the don

Thanks. Polo is my real name. It's not spelled "polo", I'm French.

Although I respect the other growers who have replied, I've gone with very long runs going from 24/0 to flower with no ill effects. I've also gone 18/6 to flower with the same positive results.

My back-to-back studies of 18/6 and 24/0 provided no noticeable difference with growth in veg at all, other than cost of running the lights.

You will be fine unless other factors are in play (temps, light leaks etc).
