The light is awfully bright. I cannot imagine it not producing enough light for flowering. How many lumens would one need to cover a 2.9x2.9 footprint? Here is a pic with the cfl's rockin'...Once I hit flower, I'm kicking on the big daddy. That is a 600w led panel, 14,400 lumens...I'll have to post a pic when its turned on...So fucking bright!!! @purplegrower02

Agreed- they have room to grow efficiency-wise, but they seem to be the next evolutionary step in lighting.

Your "600watt" is lucky to be a actual 200watt.
grow with what you like but you can get much better results.
why even ask the question if you already have the light and are going to do it anyway.
15k lumens is like having 3 3070s in a 3x3... just not enough light to flower.

Almost 50% effecient and 110 lumen/per watt... there is no other light that even comes close to this... cobs are THE most efficient thing out.

Again there is no amount you "need". Less light equals less andairy bud.
In my 2x4 almost same sq/ft as you i have 40,000 lumens

40,000...wow...k that is something I can work with. Thanks. I should then double up on my panels for a healthy yield. The one panel seems so bright I honestly thought it was plenty.

If you doubled up the panels imo you would be very happy.
if you don't already have the other panel you really might wantto get 2 cree cxa3070 cobs.

I think you should shoot for 50k lumens to best purple
I would hope its common sense that more light means more bud. Definitely get more lights, you'll be happier with your yield. But, there's no reason your plants won't flower under 14k lumens.

.Have you ever heard of the term "signage grade LEDs"? They are bright LEDs, but not necessarily efficient LEDs. MMJ loves an efficient light source more than a bright one. When you hear people complain about airy buds with LEDs it's because it's been grown with LEDs of this grade. It's one of the reasons the major companies have binnings. Say if you're building an LED based sign and you want bright light for cheap, the binning will show you what diodes you should use. They don't bin with China state made LEDs so who knows how efficient the LEDs you are getting with a Mars or other budget panel based on those diodes will be.
At least get some CREE bulbs in there with them for some kind of real efficiency/intensity.

Where can I get a complete parts list to build the thing? In the meantime, what would you have people do that are looking for low energy alternatives?Been there, thought that

Problem is these panels with inferior parts are not low energy alternatives,they're less efficient than HPS so whats the point.

Nowadays not long if you go with CREE/Bridgelux COBs. See Supra's or captainsmorgan's threads about that. Totally worth your time and money looking into building a COB based LED light.
Oooops and MrFlux has a thread somewhere around here too for more info.

I know the mars2 panels aint the best and im just a noob .but the mars 2 panel is killing my cfl grow.the bad is penetration.thats why if i ever have a extra 500 $ prob buy a better name panel.all my tops are way better than last grow.and this fall grow im using it again with 250w hps on other half of tent.
