It's not that the others avoided him, most were no where near him, and he avoided walking into their path

The STOOPID idiot deliberately walked into Tony's path.

Tony's car pulling to the right was AFTER he hit the dumb ass
Not so much that they avoided him, but that they recognized his dumb ass was on the track and slowed down, regardless of how close they were to him! Again, its an easy case to find Stewart negligent, meaning civilly liable, no criminal charges would stick.

he should quit, tony revved up and intentionally hit the guy, he probably didnt mean to kill him, but his negligence killed the guy. shit tony is a pro, did he all of the sudden forget which was the brake and which was the gas?
No, those cars are steered as much with the throttle by sliding the rear out as they are turning the steering wheel to turn the front wheels, because of how loose the surface is everytime you hit the gas the rear starts drifting due to lack of traction (even in a straight line)

So you seem to know about this, was Tony trying to avoid him, scare him, hit him? It seems he did anything but slow down...

From what I noticed Stewart was coming out of a turn and still in a drift. Given the dirt track and speed I doubt there was much he could do as far as avoiding him. Also coming out of a turn it's not like you're looking that far ahead of the track, doubt he had much time to react. I understand the guy was steaming mad but to stand in the middle of the track while the race is underway? What did he expect to stop the car with his foot? Horrible accident none the less. Victim was acting like he expected stewart to pull over.
You can blame stewart for hitting him, but he did not try to on purpose IMO.

Race should have been stopped/ slowed right when guy got spun out.

TBH to me it look like he comes round the corner, tries to move to the left but is forced back by the car on the inside of him, as he moves back his rear end slips out so he blips the throttle to try n straighten it up and as he does that the other dude carries on walking into the wheelbase of his car n bang game over

Other thing to remember is that there is very little visibility in those cars unless its straight ahead or slightly to each side, imagine looking at 12`oclock on a clock as straight ahead, visibility to either side is only to where 9 o`clock and 3o`clock are, anything between 3 and 9 on the clock is invisible to them

So, he didnt mean to hit him, but he could've maybe handled it differently. Do you think they'll find him civilly negligent?

No honestly in that situation, short of reaching 88mph n disappearing in a trail of flames there wasnt anywhere he could have gone other than into the bloke walking towards his car, might have been a totally different story if that moron didnt decide to go running round on an active racetrack

If he had of hit brakes he would have slid into him
If he had of sped up he would have hit him faster
If he turnt left then the right rear of the car would have hit him
If he turnt right then the left side of the car woulda hit him

No way out of it unfortunately

it looked to me like he hit the gas after he hit him. God knows what you are gonna do the split second after you run someone down.

It is not like he was in a cross walk. If you walk in front of a car you can expect to be run over, my mom taught me that on my way to kindergarden the first day.
