Ok...Stay with me, I load pics on photobucket and it makes 'em big...
So, I chose my first bean to germ for this comp...An unloved freebie from an Attitude order, Garbage Farms Chronic Thunder fem...
And this is the rig I intend to grow her in...I don't even know if this is gonna work, its a homespun micro RDWC setup...Consists of a 16oz party cup with a lid suspending a rockwool cube..This initial party cup has holes cut in the sides to release water, and keep the water level below the rockwool cube so the bean doesn't drown right off the bat. Anyway, the cup sits in a net pot, in a 5 gallon bucket with a manifold feeding 4 lines to the cup, constantly recirculating the aerated water from underneath via waterfall action from the holes in the side of the cup.
Once again, highly experimental, highly unstable...Does the shit talking count if I talk shit about myself? Cause I don't think I'll even get this grow off the ground...Just germinating the bean now, so not officially the first post, since I don't even know if this bean will pop...I have 3 more Barneys Farms fems that I can try popping if this one doesn't work out, and if all 4 are duds, then I might scrounge up a regular bean from the collection.
Pictures...Pictures
The bucket
The lid
The air pump
The water pump and manifold
Styrofoam "lid" for the party cup, and rockwool cube cut down in height by half
Party cup and net pot...This party cup will be used till roots establish themselves, since it has the holes in the side, preventing the rockwool from sitting directly in the water. I might transplant to a party cup without holes later, and just let the cup floweth over, so to speak...Letting the water cascade over the rim of the cup. No holes in the cup means no roots poking out, right? Remember, highly experimental
16oz. "Dart" brand cups
All set up...Once I get things going, I'l probably fill the netpot with hydroton to prevent too much light from getting into the rez.
But I can pull the cup out at any time to verify that no root shenanagins are going on
Let the ridicule begin...My skin's thick, I wont cry.......much. Honestly, I had all these things lying around already from various hydro projects...The only thing I had to fabricate for this comp was the styrofoam lid for the party cup...Oh, and I had to poke holes in the cup and cut a rockwool cube in half. Whole thing took me about 10 minutes to put together.(including the amount of time it took me to 'find' the pieces for this bucket in storage)
At the risk of this being considered my first official post...
