Invasion of Red and Blue LEDs: Humble Beginnings

I think basically he means you seem to make sence with what you say but what you really say is mostly garbage and has no basis in fact!
How's that for a translation :)

PF you started this thread a little whiny, but you have full on 4 wheel drived off the cliff.. No need to be an asshole to people when clearly you have no proof. Once you start doing some scientific research with controls you will have more credibility. I like your passion to share knowledge but clearly your on a warpath to assholehood.

Especially while you select certain individuals to respond to and not others. We both your know your full of horse shit.

I can't see where all the hostility is coming from.

White leds are clearly kicking ass right now, and so are whites + reds it seems like.

Blue leds seem pointless considering white leds are already blue leds with phosphors. You can just get cooler whites (less phosphor) if you want more blue. It makes no sense to convert some of your blue to white, just need have to supplement that blue back... But the new 660nm leds are going to be a huge game changer (probably).

I don't like being ignored when I call someone out, makes me feel like they can't hold their balls up during a session.

If someone makes an efficient amber led, that could also be a game changer. If we had 50% efficient ambers, they might be able to replace the need for whites. Then we could use the efficient blues without the phosphors, and the efficient 660nm for a mostly complete spectrum.

The argument for "white power" (sorry, i had to), is that it currently works, not that it will always be the best.

Hard to known the best when the claims here are being made by people who can't exactly afford every top brand LED for testing. Until you have an actual science it is just a theory. Until you test your theory it is rubbish, your no scientist so leave it to the ones who know what they are doing.

You are right that I don't have any evidence, but you are wrong about me not being a scientist.

I don't need evidence to back up a "could" statement as it's only a guess.

"Scientist" is actually a way of living, not a profession. Being a scientist means you practice the scientific method as a way to draw conclusions about nature. Science is just a more formalized form of natural philosophy, so being a scientist in a way is a lot like being a philosopher.

I think we should just start doing some actual studies on this so that we are informing people correctly and not just about what is correct for the moment. If we all had the same cut we could at least test the lights without worrying about the temps and climate. But than we would have to get into that as well eventually and that would be much harder without a lab.

Baloney. We grow with what's available. That will constantly change. It's obvious why 150 l/w warm white leds work...no study needed for the average joe...results are enough.

I think 1) we should just start doing some actual studies on this so that we 2) are informing people correctly and not just about 3) what is correct for the moment. If we all had the same cut we could at least test the lights without worrying about the temps and climate. But than we would have to get into that as well eventually and that 4) would be much harder without a lab.
1) " Someone " else already have done plenty of 'studies' ,'testing' and 'experimenting" ,for us all ....
2) Some, plenty (most ? ) of people are not able to think ,let alone to be 'informed correctly ' ....
3) Not for the moment ...Tested for ~450 millions of years ,up till now ....
This 'spectrum " works for sure ...

A googol % truth !

4) This 'someone' has the biggest and best lab ever ....
Specially one blue little ball ,thrown in a corner ,is of great interest ....

...
(And BTW ,it's white light-to us humans,at least -that plants are utilising ..'ALL' of it ..... )

I think a lot of people read too much into growing marijuana and don't look at the bigger picture , you are growing a plant. People have grown plants for thousands of years studies have been done on plants they translate to growing cannabis , outdoors is white light not some weird LED color like pinkish purple I think the plants like the outdoors from what I have seen they grow huge outdoors much much much bigger than indoors, and if you can control the environment (I. E . a good green house )or live in a really good climate(I .E. Northern Cali , and numerious places in America where it might not be legal) you can get some AMAZING quality outdoor buds. The whole point of evolving lights is to replicate the sun not have some weird spectrum of light the plants never have seen in the wild.

Pet ,firstly you have to understand what exactly a 'mutation' is ...
And you're ABSOLUTELY right ...
Evolution as an 'act' of life - existence ,is 99,99999% based on ( random ) genetic mutations .
Most of 'tests-experiments' of evolution ,do actually 'fail' ..
Organisms bearing the 'unhelpful ' murtations die ...
The ones having a 'good' one -or more ,will survive to pass on
the genes (information) to the future generations...

Evolution is 'motivated' - 'fed' by enviromental variables ..
Like light ,regarding evolution of plants ...

Well done Pet ....

Thought you still have to do some reading about 'mutations' ...
Mama- Nature is far more 'dangerous' than any Baaayeeeerrr or Moonshine -Do ....

Food=energy

Light = energy

Light is food
I love this statement...Light is the plants food. Spectrum can be looked at as food groups...plants needing a balance diet of light to perform at their best.
If you just ate only one type of sugar and one type protein would you live a very healthy and physically superior life?...no. As simple and unscientific as that may be sound to some on here, it is true that more than just simple monochromes are needed.
