Crohns

I have a patient that has Ulcerative Colitis. I started him on a non-activated, high cbd coconut oil about 8 months ago. He was taking 20mg of prednisone every day (along with a monthly trip to a clinic to be hooked up to a drip IV), and he is now completely off of the steroid and is only taking the medicated coconut oil. He is completely symptom free after 10 years of battling this. I'm a little short on time right now, but I would be happy to elaborate later if you're interested.
You are doing a great thing there and I would love to hear more whenever you have the time... Thanks stow

I have crohns. It's okay though because I haven't had any flare ups in years. Ever since I changed my diet - Nothing. I used to eat lots of junk, lots of processed foods etc. If it wasn't good for you - I ate it. I switched my diet to a 80% "Chunky" diet (its like a smoothie but chunky ) The ingredient list is short and I've used the same ones for three years now. Daily - 12 servings Brown rice, 4 serv black beans, 5 raw eggs (I find I can eat 5 a day without a problem, I don't suggest you eat raw eggs btw lol that is my personal choice) 4-5 serv slow cook oat meal, 2-3 bananas (plantains when available) This comprises roughly 80% of my caloric intake. I add sweet potato and olive oil at times and supplement with whey if needed. Usually, between the chunky and my dinner (chicken, fish; lean meats) I don't need to supplement protein. Not sure if it is a result of my pre digestion - chunky, the ingredients or both. Maybe it is a result of exercise in conjunction with all of that.We all know by now that properly changing diet and regular exercise is a benny. I do know that as a teenager I would be doubled over in pain pretty regularly due to crohns and have been hospitalized at times. The pain was insane and I argue with my gf to this day that what I went through was worse then her cramps lol. I take that back, woman have it bad with the period, pregnancy gender equality and all. Lots of love for woman  My grandfather also died due to complications with crohns. Fucking sucks because he was a mountain man and I was dying to meet him (never did). He actually helped in a famous search in rescue at one time, can't name it because his name is my name lol, I'm a third. Hope all is well, sorry for the long post wicked stoned. :eyesmoke::joint:
+1 on the diet suggestion..

Changing my diet has led to more improvements than any medication my doc has put me on... With that being said, I know of some individuals that a change of diet has no effect at all. But I would highly suggest anyone struggling with this disease to give it a shot if you haven't already. A gluten, dairy, and refined sugar free diet is a great place to start!

Ok. This is stupid easy, but it does require that you have access to high cbd genetics. Depending on your whereabouts this could be a tall order. In Michigan there are several strains that are easy to get ahold of.

I make a non activated oil for my patient because he does not like being high, and his job requires that he be around children all day, so it's important to him not to be high. This is accomplished by not activating (heating) the flowers or coconut oil while making the medication, and also avoiding heating it while ingesting it. Thc, cbd, etc are in the form if thc-a, cbd-a, etc prior to decarboxylization which is non-psychoactive. Once a certain temp is reached, an amino acid is displaced and the cannabinoids become activated/psychoactive. Make no mistake about it, high cbd flowers will get you baked if they are heated.

I make the non-activated oil by using dry ice. I add a layer of crushed dry ice to the bottom of my 90 micron bubble bag, then add the dried bud, then another layer if dry ice. I agitate the bag for a couple minutes over a *clean* glass table which separate the trichomes from the plant matter. I then collect the trichomes and add them to the room temp coconut oil. I use 1 ounce of bud per 1 cup of coconut oil. This seems like a good dose to start on. You can increase this to your liking. I would recommend taking 1 teaspoon of this oil twice a day.

You can make an activated oil on the stove top if you prefer. The same ratio of oil to bud is used. Put your coconut oil in to a pot and bring it to around 225. A candy thermometer comes in handy for this. Place your buds in to the melted oil and stir/mash every half hour or so for a minimum of 90 minutes. Let it cool for a half hour or so, then you will strain the plant matter off using cheese cloth or a paint straining bag.

That's it fellas. This is a highly effective way of treating all auto-immune diseases. It's been life changing for my patient, and every person that I meet or talk to suffering from one of these diseases I share this with. I encourage you guys to give it a whirl. You will start seeing the benefits almost immediately.

I took a nice drive a couple months back to acquire a cut of ac/dc and finally had the chance to put her outside. Hopefully I can get some good weight off of her.

I will try both methods when the time comes. I have a 90 micron bag somewhere around the house. Also bought a candy thermometer not too long ago as well.

Can't thank you enough. Take care brother.

Correction: I use the 160 micron bag. You want the trichomes to pass through the bag. I was kinda baked while writing that. :-)

That's great that you'll be making some oil Dank! Make sure to keep us posted on your progress. I know this will help you big time.

FYI: Costco carries a really nice organic coconut oil for a great price

What ratio of thc/cbd would you recommend? I've used a harlequin that ended up with 9/4; unfortunately it wasn't very effective for my friend. She's tried various diets but nothing seems to provide much relief once the cramps start.

I'm going to try and get some C Web and see if that might help. Dank mentioned the ac/dc, I'll look for that as well.

Thanks to both of you.

Good info. It is better to stop it at the source though don't you think? Kind of like taking blood pressure meds to combat a diet of processed, high fat foods when it would be much more effective to change diet and body composition. Sweeping it under the rug sort of thing. :joint:

The medical profession has a lot in common with the oldest profession in the world

Take back your power by taking personal responsibility for your health

The annual cost increase to eat organic is far less than health insurance

Thanks to both of you.

I'm using a couple strains that are almost exclusively cbd based on lab tests. They both come back at less than 1% thc

I'm honestly no expert on Chrons/UC. My patient has tried everything under the sun prior to marijuana, and nothing worked. Changes in diet help, prescription meds help, but nothing completely eliminated the symptoms. This is the only thing he has tried that has been 100% effective for him

Edit: Something to keep in mind here is that these diseases are not stomach issues per se. It's an over active immune response which manifests itself as intestinal problems. I don't know how diet changes alone could alter that?

Diet effects hormones. While it may not eliminate Crohns from the body, diet and the respective changes in hormonal expression / response can make it feel non-existent (remission). People are different though, what saves one might kill another. :fire:
